No Tubberville, please. His last year at Auburn, UT Martin had it tied in the third quarter in their homecoming game. If not for some silly mistakes and horrible run defense, UT Martin could have won that game. In fact, if not for Cody Burns running from the QB spot, they probably would have won that game. Short recap: Burns: `I had to take this game over' - al.com.

In regard to how clean/dirty Tubberville was at the barn, I always heard that he wasn't dirty enough to please some of their boosters - you know the ones who bought Cam Newton for Chizik.

Hey Jack! He beat Alabama on a regular basis when he was at the Barn. He had a 13-0 season also. He recruited well and is the riverboat gambler. He is a proven head coach. I think we can all agree that it would be hard to recruit to Texas Tech. Bring him back to the SEC. IMO this would be much better than hiring another Saban assistant. Gruden would still be first but if he says no give TT a shot! GO VOLS!

Could do worse. Definitely prefer over Smart. As far as the Bama thing, it wasnt exactly their golden age when he beat them but you are still correct in your summary imo. Not a splash hire but I would not be angry if we miss on the homerun hires and get a solid former SEC coach.

What happened the last time Tubberville faced Saban? What was his record at Texas Tech last year?

He's a good recruiter, but he got fired for the same reason Fulmer got fired, he was regressing.

You might as well re-hire Fulmer if you want to go that route. They're pretty similar and at least Fulmer is a UT guy.

Tubby actually out game planned people several times for an unexpected win. Fulmer didn't very often.

Would you be opposed to hiring Tuberville? He knows the SEC and I feel like he would definitely be interested in getting back into the SEC. Folks here in Auburn love the guy (probably now only because Auburn football is a comedy show at this point) and think hell succeed wherever he goes to.
