Nope. TV has 3 million reasons to do what he does. He's easily the best in the business. I'm sure it's mostly psychological paired with a little MLB draft stock in there.I would argue that we have coaches. We’re 20-0. I noticed late, they brought in AA today, which they have employed late in games previously, and they moved Curly from SS to 1B.
Your points may be valid, and 1B has certainly been an issue, along with fielding, but at some point you gotta trust the Coach, right?
Do we know better than them? I doubt it.
Had beenIs Behnke hurt or something? I see he's barely played I just noticed tonight
Do you think that’s why the kids all like Tony as much as they do. Not a lot of gray area with CTV. If you perform well you play. If you don’t you don’t play. No politics involved2 rules I have learned about coach V.
Number one you don’t throw strikes you don’t pitch
Number two you don’t hit you don’t play the field until the end of the game.
Those are really simple and they will not change He does not care how fast you can throw if you can’t throw it for strikes and he does not care how great of a fielder you are if you cannot hit. I don’t understand why that is not easy to understand after watching him coach for this long. AA has got to figure out the hitting thing or he will not play shortstop except the end of the game.
I never count anyone out in this league based on appearance early in the year. The Vols were 4-5 to start conference play last year, then won an incredible 18 of their last 21 conference games. There was a lot of weeping and gnashing of teeth going on, then everything fell into place. With Alabama and Georgia looking more and more legit, I think it makes the league better overall. I stay away from specific win projections, but I believe LSU will finish top 3 in the league record-wise, and will be there come tournament time with a chance to collect all the marbles. It’s just an honest take. And I’ll add to it a little bit as well. I believe LSU is good, but nowhere near #1 good. If I had to guess right now, I’d say we likely only win somewhere between 16-18 SEC games. I’d be absolutely surprised if we picked up 20 or more, but I don’t see that happening. We’re definitely going to take some losses this season, but I hope we aren’t fighting like hell to make the tourney like last year.
I think the Vols are at minimum going to pick up 22-24 SEC wins, and it wouldn’t surprise me if it’s closer to 26 or 27. When you’ve got the bats like the Vols, you’re going to win a lot of games. The SEC is pretty loaded this year, so it’s going to be fun to watch all season long!
Road sweeps in the SEC are extremely difficult. Texas, Bama and LSU did just that.I saw about 15 innings of the Vols over the weekend. And yeah, you can’t deny they are looking really good right now. I personally like to wait until about 3 SEC series have been played before I start taking a hard stance on how good teams really are. LSU swept Mizzou, and although that’s great as a fan, it doesn’t tell me whole lot since Mizzou isn’t anything special. Next weekend will tell me more for sure. The Vols swept Florida, which again is Great (and way better than sweeping Mizzou), but next weekend will tell you more. Mostly, it will be more revealing as to how well Florida plays, bc we already know the Vols are as solid as can be. This is going to be such a fun season! Every weekend will have great series within the conference!
I kind of figured that. It’s the only way to keep all the talent that they have happy. 100% transparency and performance based. Iron sharpens iron.Absolutely. You know what you have to do to get on the field. No matter what you were in HS, which everyone was a standout, your performance dictates play. He doesn’t buy the eye test. Prove it. Kirby never passed eye test but proved it on field.
Watched most the A&M game Sunday, Grahovac & Sorrell out, LaVoilette isn't hitting like last year and their FR look FR. They're are work in progressIf it comes down to a rubber match this Saturday, I’m expecting Snead to start. I honestly don’t know if Bama is that good or if A&M was way overhyped.
Well deserved! That’s my boy!![]()

For the third straight week, Tennessee had a player recognized by the Southeastern Conference in its weekly awards as Marcus Phillips was tabbed the SEC Co-Pitcher of the Week on Monday afternoon.
The junior righthander continued his impressive string of early-season outings with his best start to date, tossing a seven-inning complete-game shutout on Saturday afternoon to help the Vols clinch their series against No. 6/7 Florida on SEC Opening Weekend.
Making his first-career SEC start, Phillips struck out seven, scattered five hits and issued just one walk in a career-high seven innings pitched, topping his previous career-best of 5.2 innings. The South Dakota native's complete-game shutout was the first by a UT pitcher since Drew Beam had one in a win at Vanderbilt on April 3, 2022.
