The Official Denver Broncos Thread

The Broncos will be in the playoffs. To me, it's a matter of getting Von and Doom back to getting pressure, developing an interior pass rush, and getting the LBs and safeties to cover the middle of the field. That's the only way we make it past the Patriots who have destroyed the Broncos for a couple of years now. Of course there are other challenges (Texans), but the Patriots have made the Broncos look like chumps.

edit: I know it's early, but look at the schedule and the rest of the division. It would take a significant collapse to not make it. Either that or a remarkable change of course for the Chargers. Maybe I'm discounting the Raiders too soon, but I don't think so.

SD lost to Cleveland. Y'all shouldn't be worried

The division is certainly Denver's to lose, now that they hit the easy half of the schedule. Hopefully they have a good enough record to have a first round bye as well. I pray we don't see another late season collapse that has been the norm over the years. But if Peyton and the offense keeps clicking and that defense keeps playing lights out, they can compete with almost anyone.

And Oakland, SD, and KC all pretty much suck. Denver should walk away with the division

Broncos should finish with 11-13 wins...I knew they'd do well but I was hoping they'd be elite. They lost to the big dogs, but maybe they'll be gelling come playoff time. And if they can enjoy a home game or two, they could be pretty tough to beat.

I believe the Broncos could beat anybody except for NE and Houston. I just don't see the defense being capable of stopping either of those teams, and I don't see them improving to fix that.

The last three meetings NE's offense has had it's way with the Broncos.

But who knows, there's always a chance.

edit: I know they looked good against New Orleans. But my opinion is that, that will not hold against those two teams. Maybe replacing Porter with Harris, and the new LB rotation helped fix that.

I think Porter's illness may have cost him his job. Harris has been playing well and it didn't look good for Porter getting burned in the Houston game. And when Williams is able to return, they shouldn't pull Woodyard. He has been playing really well also.

I don't like Porter that much....he's high risk high reward. So far Harris has been low risk high reward. Let's stick with him until he shows us otherwise.

Did you expect them to be elite in month one?

No, but I was anticipating a slow start for the offense. Other than the first quarter against the Falcons and a lot of fumbling, the offense has been stellar. Their biggest problem in month one wasn't the new offense gelling, it was the run D. It was atrocious against the Pats, and poor against the Texans.

I'm slightly offended that the Broncos are being picked against with more love going to the Chiefs. The Broncos looked great in the preseason. Manning looked fine, and Cassel is still Cassel. Seriously, he was terrible last year.

Not tooting my own horn. But seriously...people predicting the Chiefs were clearly underestimating the importance of the QB position.

IMO, it should be a tight race right now between Von and Watt for DPoY. These are Madden numbers.

After earning the league’s Defensive Rookie of the Year Award a year ago, Miller has emerged as an every-down linebacker who can do more than just rush the passer.
He now leads the NFL with 21 tackles for a loss on the season – an average of more than two per game.
On the season, he has made 39 tackles with more than half coming for losses.
Four of Miller’s six tackles on Sunday came behind the line of scrimmage and resulted in a total loss of 24 yards for the Panthers.
“He was in beast mode today,” said defensive tackle Kevin Vickerson, who finished with a career-best two sacks in the win. “He can be one of the best linebackers to play the game. He’s a good guy, a good player, explosive -- all of the above.”

Miller Time

The three things that scare me about the offense: 1) can't convert 3rd and 1 runs 2) too many drops 3) too many fumbles and a complete inability to recover fumbles.

Bengals win last week is looking more impressive now.

I love Willis McGahee, but in games I'm able to watch I cringe everytime he's handed the ball. He is good for at least one fumble per game.
