The Official Denver Broncos Thread

Well, there it is. You never knew what the conversation was about in the first place

Lol. All I ever told you was that you were wrong about the game against the Ravens. Manning played poorly, plain and simple. You tried to pretend he did great in regulation, were then proven otherwise, now you're here trying to lump me into your last failed argument. Impressive. Hilarious too.

You think 9/13 with a TD under tremendous pressure is bad. There is no way to reach you.

You like not including the incredibly low yardage total (especially minus one drive) and a fumble like they don't matter. Actually, it's very apparent you know how significant that part is by how you continually ignore it. That's where the humor comes in.

I think Denver squeezes by the Colts this weekend. They better hope Baltimore finds a way past New England though.

Yes, Denver really is not a favorite this year. Clearly, New England is in the limelight to win the AFC Championship and perhaps even the Super Bowl. They have homefield advantage and the weather on their side. All the talk of dynasty but no Super Bowl wins in 10 years, the pressure is on the Patriots.

Denver, on the other hand, fell out of the limelight after they lost to New England in the regular season. Their identity changed on offense through the last quarter of the season, incorporating more of a power rushing attack. They also have momentum in a defense that is reaching the potential of its talent level. Ironically, they're better equipped to win a championship this year than their previous two playoff appearances.

I would love to see the Broncos play loose and have fun. Granted, if they beat the Colts this weekend and the Ravens upset the Patriots, expectations will change, of course, and they'll be favored again to win the AFC Championship. However, if New England wins, as I think they will, the Patriots will be heavily favored at home. Interesting that for a team playing the underdog role, Denver is loaded to win it all. With expectations removed, I think they become the most dangerous team in these playoffs.

Yes, winning Super Bowl XLIX would be a game changer for all of the above. But no quarterback stands to gain more by snagging this season's Lombardi Trophy -- or lose more by going home empty-handed -- than Peyton Manning.

Has this not been the story of every playoff appearance by Manning over the past decade?

Another Super Bowl win for No. 18, and you can pound your fist on the table declaring that Peyton is the best ever. On the other hand, another playoff loss, and that familiar chorus rings out even louder.

Sure, until the next playoffs. Then it will be that he needs three. The greatest playoff QB is Joe Montana, period. 16-7-0 and 4 NFL Championships. Nobody touches that. I'll admit Brady is second, but if there's ever a doubt that football is a team sport, you'll notice that he hasn't hoisted a Lombardi in 10 years. It takes a great team that is hot at the right time plus some fortune to win a Super Bowl. The best QB I've ever watched play in the NFL was Dan Marino and he never won anything.

So here it is, another playoffs. And the same old same old. I shouldn't complain though. If it's a story, just means I'm getting to see more Peyton Manning games.

Of course ESPN ran something about it on SportsCenter as well

It gets ratings from both sides of the Peyton GOAT debate. They will flog that horse into hamburger until he retires. Then bring it up again 5 years later when he is inducted into the NFL HoF on the first ballot bringing his 5 MVP's and passing records with him.

Regardless of what happens in these playoffs, Manning's legacy is cemented as one of the greatest all-time. If he wins or loses, the appreciators are going to say the same things about him. If he wins, haters are going to say "only 2 SBs". If he doesn't win they'll say, "only 1 SB". It really won't make a difference for his legacy.

Tony Romo, on the other hand...that guy has a lot to gain.

Manning comes into these playoffs as more of an underdog. His team isn't the favorite to win it all. There's still pressure but it's not monumental.

I do find it humorous that if Romo somehow won a Super Bowl, all of his criticism would go away for sure.

John Elway won his first superbowl throwing for a 100 and something yards. It's a team sport. Only idiots and journalists get caught up in legacies and rings and where so and so stands.
