The obvious difference is that Kelly lost with a talented roster to those 2 SEC teams; Mullen loses to those SEC powers with one of the least talented rosters in the SEC.
I know, I know, this is where I am told a great coach finds a way to win. But what if there is another great coach on the other side of the field with an infinitely more talented roster?
I am betting on the guy with the talent.
Well comparing Chips two losses to normal every day losses is not apples to apples.
That LSU team was one of the best they have ever had.......and Oregon still scored more than Bama did in two games. The championship loss was to a Cam led Auburn team by 3 at the end of the game.
Hes not a little better than previous coaches. Hes better than Croom, Sherrill, and the other previous coaches in school history.
Your lack of knowledge is showing terribly. Prolly a millennial

This is the type of crap that has kept us from winning the SEC for 20 years. We accept mediocrity and think it will, magically, get better by sheer hope, "fan support" or other such nonsense. You want to win a championship? Go hire someone who's won one, not someone who did pretty good with what he's had and think the magic of The Hill will push him over the top. Mullen is alright, nothing special, thus far as a coach and there's no reason to think that he'll be anything otherwise at UT.
However, based upon the type of think prevailing at the UT campus over the years, I fully expect to see Mullen at the podium in Knoxville next week.
You're fashioning yourself as a smart person without realizing the important part isn't if he's good for MSU, but that he's good for UT.
And, I'm not a millennial, but I have been a UT fan for a long time, long enough to be tired of those fans like you who butter up guys like Mullen for more than they are.
I would be more than happy to have Gruden, but the reality is he was never coming despite those ridiculous 'grumors'.
Gruden had fun with it and sections of the media gave the grumors traction because they were having fun watching the so-called Gruden or Bust crowd freak out at every little rumor.
The Grudenites simply got played...again.
Fool me once...shame on you.
Fool me thrice...I am one gullible sumbich.
