The Official CoronaZoneVirus Thread

Get well soon!

SOOOOO ready for this to die down to background noise.
I think that we are close. What is lacking is faith in either previous infection or vaccination will keep symptoms mild. I don't know if variants disappear but you don't hear a lot about Delta anymore so I am hoping that (God willing) we get through this with nothing more than what we have experienced and we develop faith in the treatments, then it will become just another flu bug or cold. I am hoping that GVG and I are now going to be super immune at least for awhile.

Now they are saying there is a Omicron Delta. I honestly feel this stuff will never go away, especially since it's zoonotic. It will just ebb and flow.
I’ve listened to numerous people with impressive credentials opine that this virus mutates in a way that is not ordinarily observed in nature, meaning is probably was being researched as a weapon and, eventually, it will probably kill us all unless it’s the germ warfare equivalent of a dud round.

Natural immunity achieved with being infected with a COVID variant (preferably omicron because it has milder symptoms) gives you better immunity than a vaccination. Don’t recommend everybody going out and trying to catch it on purpose but if you do contract it you have good protection from future infections.

Yeah but that won't get you on an airplane, or into a concert, or a lot of other places. Not that anyone has to go to those places but a lot of us are more than willing to let a stranger shoot some potentially cancer causing goop into our bodies if a few politicians say it will allow us to go back to normal living.

That’s the category I fall in. Had it plus vaccine.

The fact that massive amounts of vaccinated people are testing positive for omicron tells us all we need to know. Just a matter of time until this things mutates in a way that combines the transmissibility of omicron with lethality of something like the Spanish Flu. Live it up while you can.

sigh.
Omni has mutated around the natural immunity and the vaccine.
It has mutated to be less contagious and less harmful than the common cold. Nobody worries about the common cold combination with Ebola. This will be no different.
through all of history mutations lead to less harmful.
This will be no different.

but I digress.

Well... just found out that my youngest and his wife both tested positive today. She is sick with fever and in the bed. He says he feels fine, however, his ears are plugged. He didnt say which variant and both are fully vaccinated.
They don't tell you.

Local news blaming empty grocery store shelves on people calling in from work based on positive Covid tests. If we're gonna keep the economy and social order in tact until the super strain hits, people are gonna have to give up the idea that a positive test is a get out of work/school/jail free card, unless you have symptoms severe enough that you would have stayed home without the positive test.

how many companies are paying to stay home ? How many low lifes are still going out to stores with a positive test ?

Glad you’re both feeling better. My younger daughter is also in the stir-crazy stage.
Update on this:

Turns out that although she got through the fever and beaten-with-baseball-bats part quickly, she’s still sick 2+ weeks later: horrible, endless coughing, no smell or taste, and brain fog worst of all. Other than asthma, she’s very fit and athletic and only 34 years old. Going to the doc tomorrow in hopes of at least getting the cough under control. So tired of this.

Tell her to try homemade cough medicine. We'll be praying for her!
