How’s peeps feeling about the J&J vax? They sure as hell wouldn’t stop using it for a one in a million adverse reaction. Something is up.

I was thinking next month when my workload will be significantly lighter. Stuff like this just makes me want to keep waiting. I’m not an anti, usually get a flu shot and have had vaccines I can’t even remember for international travel.

It’s interesting (to me) that people were all worried about the mRNA vaccines (Pfizer/BioNTech and Moderna), but it’s the old school ones (AstraZeneca and J&J) that are setting off alarms.

Also interesting (to me) that it’s mostly younger women with the scary clotting problems, and BCPs (birth control pills) have traditionally raised the risk for blood clots. At least back in dinosaur days when I was in that age group. I think the current ones are supposed to be safer.

I was really wanting that one, one and done. After four years of the military shoving needles into you, I just didn’t want to take the chance of talking myself out of the second shot.

In this day and age, and the news cycle as it is, I think they want to vaccinate as many as possible in a short amount of time, and are afraid people would shy away from it after the side effects were reported in some, regardless of which brand. I read there’s only a small percentage that experienced clotting issues. That’s extraordinary considering how fast the vaccine was developed and administered.

It’s just such an uncommon, specific problem. Not the usual leg clots or pulmonary embolisms or whatever. I had never heard of it before.

It really is too bad though, as there’s such a role for the one-and-done version. Maybe they’ll do like the UK (?) did for AstraZeneca and use it for 45-and-up or something. Surely they won’t just trash it. 😟

Excruciatingly slow day today at the county vaccine site. We’ve cut back appointments for first rounds, because we will start giving 2nd rounds here instead of drive-by. Also walk-ins.

If anyone here can come up with an NC address and want a Pfizer, c’mon down.

From the time I walked up until the needle was in the arm was maybe 6 or 7 minutes.

And I didn’t feel even the slightest pinch. Waiting for my arm to get sore for proof they actually stuck me.
