The official Comic Book err... Graphic Novel Thread

The only ones I ever read regularly were the "Star Trek"s, especially the original series ones. I pick one up every once in a while to fill in holes in my collection. My brother was more into comics/graphic novels than I was.

As a kid I got comics all the time, got a variety but my favorite was always Batman. I didn't even know what a graphic novel was til about the 8th grade. I read a few of my friend's novels, like Gotham by Gaslight, The Dark Knight returns, etc. I haven't read any in years, but one I saw on Wikipedia that caught my eye was an Elseworld's title that was a Batman vs Dracula trilogy, where Bats turns into a vampire to fight Dracula. The idea of him as a vampire always seemed pretty cool to me.

Yeah he does. I picked back up a couple of months ago and am really starting to get back into the flow of things. There are some really cool things going on right now. Brubaker has four books at the moment, all of which are spectacular, I credit him with reigniting my interest.

I was all over the civil war until i got sent here, so I missed the bulk of it. Do you know if they are going to come out with any trades for it? Just easier to get caught up that way

Man I need to dig through some of my old books.

Was the Messiah Complex any good?

Messiah Complex was probably the best X-men crossover since Age of Apocalypse which was what, 11 or 12 years ago? Very entertaining, Brubaker wrote some good chapters, as did Peter David for X-Factor. Everything except for the art in New X-men was solid.

i only collected one book, years ago. it was called "Guardians of the Galaxy." most probably dont remember it. i just picked something that was somewhat unknown. i used to like the "What if" comics, from the 80's. the coolest characters were Juggernaut, Cable, and the Hobgoblin.

Update:

Captain America, Daredevil, and pretty much all the X-books (especially X-Factor and X-Force) are currently on the read list. I recommend them highly.

justingroves, I know you had asked about Messiah Complex, and all the books involved have taken interesting turns in the aftermath of that storyline.

parmejohn, you might be interested to know that there will be a new Guardians of the Galaxy series in May

Just picked up Vol. 1 of The Walking Dead, absolutely brilliant. Also picked up Vol. 8, 9, and 10 of Y:The Last Man, brilliant in its own right. Batman is coming out next week, it's a good time to be a nerd.
