The Official Butch Jones support thread...

CBJ needs to understand 1 thing- the monkey isn't going to just hop off our back. 4th and 2 in FLA game on Gator 40 and 4th and 1 at midfield tonight- man up and go for it. Please. Both times we have punted and the opposition has went on and scored a TD. In order to reverse our fortune, we have to be AGGRESSIVE.

Nobody's saying fire Jones, just that the embarrassing losses continue to pile up with no end in sight. No progress anywhere outside of the defense which is vastly improved. Nothing, absolutely nothing that Jones has done through 19 games supports your idea that he is a great coach. The evidence at this point clearly shows he's aversge to below average outside of recruiting.
Exactly! You summed it up in a nut shell! I like the guy. I think he is 100% all in! Unfortunately dedication and desire does not equal success every time.

No attempt by CBJ to adapt his offensive system to fit our personnel.

On the other hand, if he did then we'd be running the single wing or simply quick kicking on 2nd down.

There are no playmakers on this offense. O-Linemen whiff repeatedly...WRs have hands of stone...our QBs as a group might be the worst in the Big 5.

End of vent...

No playmakers on offense?
Lol

:confused:The offensive genius brigade on VN shows itself once again. My "IGNORE" list has quadrupled in the last 3 weeks. About to chuck the whole tamale.

I think Butch is a good coach, and I support him. He is a relentless recruiter. You can see that in our defense this year. After the Auburn blowout last year he commented on the difference in team speed between us and them. He went out and got speed this year. It is just amazing how bad Kiffin and Dooley decimated our program. Butch has had to start from scratch. No coach, and I mean no coach, could get us back to being a national contender these last two years. It is just painful to know it is going to take time. Realistically, we are looking at another 2-4 years.

Don't we deserve both? CBJ is a relentless recruiter, but coaching ability is up in the air.

Not CBJ fault the OLine is this bad but the coaching staff's inability to come up with ways to protect our QB is on them...at least to a degree. It's no secret that we lack talent up front and can't block anyone. Since we can't really change that maybe we should keep more in to block? And the zone read isn't working. I really like CBJ but you can't be so stubborn that it costs you wins. Screw the zone read until you get a QB that can run it.

He better start looking at staff changes on the offensive side of the ball or his a** will be run outta Knoxville in less than two years.

All I'll say is that we had great field position all first half and could NOT generate more than 3 pts!! We haven't scored an offensive td in the last two games! It's pathetic! I like Jones but he has got to start doing something different. Being it play calling, players, etc.

I started a thread like this two weeks ago, and claimed it was not the coaching but the execution and lack of experience.

Well, I was wrong. After putting up 3 points through 60 minutes of play, there's obviously still a problem with execution, experience, AND coaching.

And if I remember correctly, wasn't that one of the main criticisms of Dooley, that he wouldn't make half-time adjustments?

Agree. Not just half time adjustments though. The zone read isn't benefiting anyone at this point. Trying to make it work is being somewhat stubborn. You got a beast in Hurd. Try tailoring the offense to make him successful. Sorry but I'm in a venting mood tonight. I just want to see adjustments. Not sure what we are trying to prove with the zone read. We have absolutely one of the worst yards per play average in college football. Love the passion of CBJ but if you fail to make adjustments then some of this on you.

I don't think this is coaching. Our OL is so bad their D was in the backfield, again, all night. We can put 8 OL out there and when 3 guys come through the middle almost as fast as the snap you can't do anything. Hurd is a heck of a player and he got smashed in the backfield all night. We are stuck with these OL until new blood gets here or hopefully they drastically improve over the next year. The left side of our line is very, very average and the right side is like playing high school seniors.

You guys bash coaches for not playing other guys and he did that tonight well before it was out of hand. You bashed him for not playing Berry and now you see what he was worried about. Ole Miss played mistake free and we handed them 4 turnovers, much of which was Worley's fault....his worse game all year. We are several OL and future QB from being good but I still have faith it will come.

Don't let the success of Ole Miss fool you. Their coach has done a great job but he also has lots of talent and depth at virtually every position. Only 2-3 of our offensive guys would be in their 2 deep.

Lol

I'm not talking about making plays against Arkansas ST., Utah St, and UTC.

Oh yeah, you're right, our offensive "playmakers" are there all right...making plays for the other team on a regular basis. The Georgia Game seems to be a fluke.

Give up some evidence or make an argument. I love it when folks who post thousands of times LOL at others without saying a damn thing!

One other point....we didn't expect to win this game and our goal of winning 6 games is still in sight. Who knows if we will get there but Ole Miss and Bama were not games anyone realistically expected to win.

I'm totally behind Jones. We could finish with 5 wins and I would be 100% Jones. This program is being built back up and it's exciting to watch.

North has made several highlight catches in his short time
Hurd is a beast but not put in a position to succeed
Malone and Pearson can make plays
Wolfe is very capable

Problem is Worley is probably thinking that at any given moment someone is about to decapitate him. Kind of problem.

I don't think your post was entirely inaccurate but don't really agree with the lack of playmakers part.

I support CBJ because the last thing this program needs is to go through yet another embarrassing coaching search where we get told "no thanks" by our top 4 choices. We are kidding ourselves if we think we're going to get anyone better at this point in time.

Bottom line, our OL & QB are just not SEC level. We cannot run the ball, our OL can't keep the opponents front seven out of the backfield, and when they do actually manage to, Worley makes piss poor throws and doesn't see wide open receivers (Pearson wide open for a TD tonight) because his field vision sucks. Some things you can coach and some things you can't.

Some say it's all the coaches fault, and I agree that everyone has room to improve, but even the best coach can't make ice cream out of sh@t. I know that CBJ has to take the blame because he's the head coach, but having to accept responsibility for the situation doesn't mean you're the root cause of it all.

Love the positive thinking. We are definitely improving. He definitely gets an A for recruiting. But I do think we are all just crossing our fingers that this coaching staff can hang in this conference. I choose to believe. Not because I see some proof that they are capable but because failure may set us back another 5 -10 years. I try to tell myself that we were just a couple of plays away from being 5 - 2.

He did inherit one hell of a mess. The scary thing is that I don't see the QB on our roster that will help bring us wins the next two years. I hope that guy is a current verbal commit.

You make some good points. However, North's highlight reel is when he's got separation or is all alone. In traffic this megatron look alike comes up small! And "can make plays" is exactly the same thing as actually making them against quality opponents.

I'm behind CBJ And Co., but need to vent because this pathetic performance is so damn frustrating!

Now im seeing why im hating football so much, its not the teams its the horrible fans that know more about football than the guys that make a living from it.
