I've learned over the last few years to not get my hopes up about getting a new coach. At least finally it's the majority that agree instead of the majority calling us few negavols.

Only thing I'm concerned about is how the AD department views things. Currie is new and hopefully he doesn't take the same approach as some of the ones in the past. To this point he doesn't mind replacing at least. Then got to see if they go for the best.

But more than anything I look back on what it was that finally got rid of Dooley, it was Neyland being around 60k capacity. THE BIGGEST message that sent to me is the school could care less about the football teams success, as long as they get their cut.

Again hopefully with the new faces in charge things will be different.

Gary Patterson. Would take him over any of those, even Kelly. Cause Kelly will leave for the NFL in the future. Too big of an Ego to know that he failed the last time there

Today will force the hands of the powers that be. Between the loss and game day running over butch, he is hurting tennesssee athletics on a branding/ marketing level. Unfortunately I think everyone has seen this coming since mid season last year but no one wants to turn their back on a team and university they love. But at this point, not having butch jones embarrass the brand has more value than watching butch jones win life championships and tarnish the brand.

Yeah Mullen looks really good now doesn't he? Pfft. I like Butch..but I hate him for the embarrassment and humiliation he has brought on the students, fans and boosters of this once great program. S H A M E F U L!

He's at MSU. Just gonna get out talented sometimes there. I still think hes a good coach.

Patterson will never come here. He wanted the job and we crapped on him. Never forgiven UT

These arguments have to be separated.

1) Butch Jones is in his 5th year as the Tennessee head coach with multiple top 15 recruiting classes. However, he has not displayed any competency to lead Tennessee to a top 10 finish at any point on the future. He has literally embarrassed the Tennessee brand by refusing to accept responsibility, give himself hollow accolades and fight with the local sports media. In the last 5 years, I have not seen that Butch Jones has the ability to put a competitive and competent product on the field. Our team has not progressed in 5 seasons. Watch the south Alabama game then watch umass. Same game. At this point, he can only hurt the UT brand.

2) A new coach will cost more money and he may be worse than what we have now. But we know where 8-4 Butch will be every year.

A new coach would have 2 seasons before the pitchforks are out. The back bone talent (that butch can't develop) is there. If the financials of the university prevent an attempt to find a qualified coach at a historically top 10 university, that is a different issue. But continuing down this path is (cliche) the definition of insanity.

I got about 9.5 million reasons Butch will be coach for the foreseeable future. Thank Hart for that unnecessary extension/buyout clause.
