The Official Boston Celtics Thread

Thought this was interesting and probably the most appropriate place to post it:

NBAtv interviewed Jason Terry last night during their schedule announcement show. Jason Kidd was talking to Terry about the move to Boston, and Kidd told him that he thought Rondo was the best PG in the game today...Yes, better than CP3, Rose, and Williams.

That's all...

Ray Ray, no question. Allen may be just a 3 point specialist on offense, but he's VERY good at that, and plays better D, and is a better rebounder.

I LOVE the moves that Ainge has pulled off this offseason. I think we've had the best offseason in the NBA so far. W/ Rose's injury I think the Celtics are the 2nd best team in the East & if we can stay healthy we can give them a better match up in a 7 game series w/ this roster Ainge has assembled.

Losing Ray hurt, but I think we could be better off w/ the tandem of Jason Terry/Courtney Lee. Still can't believe Ainge was able to grab those 2. Terry brings instance offense off the bench & can handle the ball giving Rondo some rest also.

Bradley is going to be healthy once again & he is a great great defender. Him & Rondo run well together.

Bringing back KG, Bass, Wilcox, & Green has given us good quality depth in the post. Then add in Melo & Sullinger. I loved the pickup of Melo, you can't teach size. He has a ton of potential has a defender & rebounder IMO. Sullinger fell into our laps b/c of his back issue but so far during the summer league he has looked good. Almost forgot, we added Jason Collins for more depth also.

We also brought Dooling back for guard depth.

I see our lineup like this:

PG: Rondo/Terry/Dooling
SG: Bradley/Lee
SF: Pierce/Green
PF: Bass/Wilcox/Sullinger
C: Garnett/Collins/Melo

I wish we could bring back Pietrus.

Ainge got the team younger & faster w/ some of these signings.

Could be one of the deepest teams in the NBA this coming season. I'm really looking forward to seeing this team.

Celtics signed Darko Milicik to a 1-year deal, Keyon Dooling retired.

Rondo, Terry, & Lee have been in Waltham for a month working out w/ the rookies.

I'm really looking forward to this season.

A lot of ill will being directed toward Ray Allen from KG & Rondo the past few days during Celtics camp.

Pierce & KG both mentioned in seperate interviews that they seriously considered retiring this past offseason, Pierce said once KG decided he was coming back Pierce did the same. Paul mentioned that KG signed a 3-year deal & he has 3-years left on his deal so he wants to retire w/ KG at the end of these deals.

Lee has been hampered by a hamstring injury during the beginning of camp. Jeff Green has been getting a lot of extra work in.

Jeff Green & Sullinger playing very good basketball so far for the Celtics overseas in Europe.

Avery Bradley is ahead of schedule in his rehab from shoulder surgery, he could return in mid-December.

Celtics lost their first pre-season game last night to the Knicks 98-95. The C's built a 12 point lead in the 3rd quarter before Doc went to his bench to finish out the game. Green had another good game, it's really good to see him playing so well after what he went through last year. Sullinger looked good again also, he added 14 points & 7 rebounds.

Next pre-season game is Monday at Philly.

Celtics released Jamar Smith & Dionte Christmas. That means Kris Joseph gets the last roster spot.

I'm still a little worried about his height, but Bass & Glen Davis aren't the tallest guys & they produce/produced in Boston.

Height is so overrated. It's all about rebounding and scoring efficiency. Length is a nice bonus, but it is no substitute for rebounding.

I'm calling it right now, Jeff Green may win come back player of the year award if there is one in the NBA. He is straight up balling this pre-season.

He could. Brandon Roy if he gets going could be a fun one. Rose doesn't really count.

Roy could be a candidate also, Rose doesn't count.

Green isn't even a starter right now, he may win come back player of the year & 6th man of the year. He has been really really impressive on both sides of the floor this preseason.

I don't know how much stock to put into preseason NBA, at all. Just no idea. Celtics will be an interesting team to watch.

Opening night, big game against Miami. Going to be tough, especially w/ the Heat having their ceremony tonight. I'm hoping they come out flat w/ the ceremony & hanging of the banner.

You're kidding yourself. Green isn't even the 6 the man.
