The Official Boston Celtics Thread

Celtics released Wilcox.

Had a chance to take over the division lead & be 4th in the East last night. Came out & looked great early but completely fell apart after the Pietrus injury.

Pierce dropped 36pts tonight as the Celtics beat the Bobcats, Celtics are now tied a top the Atlantic Division w/ the 76ers.

This season has been crazy. I thought the Celtics and Knicks were dead in the water at one point but they're right back in the thick of things. The worst part is, they have plenty of time to turn East standings upside down. Pacers could finish 3rd but they could fall as far as 7th, maybe even 8. The West is in the same type of battle.

Celtics are now 29-22, they are in first place in the Atlantic Division & have the 4th seed in the East ATP.

Celtics just crushed the Heat, Rondo had his 5th Triple-Double of the season which leads the NBA. C's have won 5 in a row, 8 straight at home, & are 15-5 since the All-Star Break.

Allen is still favoring his ankle & will be out a little longer, Avery Bradley has done a great job starting & Doc said he may keep it that way when Allen gets healthy & use Allen as the 6th man.

Well the last 2 games have pretty much sucked, had a chance to beat the Spurs on a last second shot that Pierce missed & then last night we were dominating the Roseless Bulls in the 1st half then we just got outplayed in the 2nd half. We are still 1 game up on the 76ers for the division lead. We are 3 games back of the Pacers for the 3rd seed. Not many games left though.

Celtics coming to Indy tonight.

Going to be a tough game for the Pacers. They just fended off the Thunder who had lost their last two coming into the game. Now they'll have to do the same against the Celtics and they'll have to do it in back to back nights. No easy task.

Back to back games after a big win last night was just too much to overcome.

Good game.

Orange_Pearl, I got caught up in watching the Vols Baseball game on ESPNU or I would have been over here talking about the game w/ you.

We really needed that game last night after losing 2 straight heartbreaking games like we did.

Rondo had his 16th straight 10+ assist game of the season, thats the longest streak in the NBA in the past 20 years.

Allen provided a spark off the bench, which looks to be his new role w/ Bradley starting now.

Stiemsma has given us some post depth w/ all the injuries we have had, he is a very good shot blocker.

We are now down 2 games from the Pacers for the 3 see w/ 11 games left.

W/ the way this team is playing now I really wish I could have seen how much better they would be w/ a healthy Wilcox, O'Neal, & Green.

Celtics blewout the 76ers last night, Rondo had another 10+ assist night making it 17 games in a row. I'm really liking the way Doc is using his bench, Ray coming in as the 6th man has given this team a spark off the bench.

We are now 3 games up on the 76ers for the divison lead & 1.5 game back of the Pacers for the 3 seed.

Another huge win, this time on the road. This team is really starting to gel, putting Bradley in the starting lineup has helped. I love watching this team play right now, if they keep playing like this then you don't want to see them in the playoffs.

I just can't help but think how much better we could still be if Green, Wilcox, & O'Neal were healthy. Heck we should even get Piertrus back before the playoffs.

C's suffered a bad loss last night to the Raptors but bounced back today & picked up the win against the Nets.

Pierce, KG, & Allen all stayed back in Boston last night as the C's beat the Bobcats on the road. W/ the Celtics having a playoff spot locked up I'd expect the big 3 to get a lot of rest.

Things have been going well for the Celtics lately, Tuesday night aside, but a new report reveals just how close the current team was to being broken up.

League sources told Yahoo! Sports columnist Adrian Wojnarowski that the Celtics had separate deals to trade Ray Allen and Paul Pierce fall apart just before the trade deadline on March 15.

According to the report, the Celtics were ready to send Allen to Memphis for guard O.J. Mayo and a draft pick. How close was the deal to happening? The sources tell Wojnarowski that the Celtics actually called Allen and told him he'd been traded. The deal eventually fell through.

The other trade the Celtics had working was a deal to send Paul Pierce to the New Jersey Nets for power forward Mehmet Okur's expiring contract and a lottery pick, according to the report. That deal would have given the Celtics two things: a top pick in a draft many feel is loaded with talent, and relief from the next two years on Pierce's contract. It also would have made them substantially worse in the short term, and would have signaled that the team had given up on this season.

I wouldn't have mind either of those deals, would have liked adding O.J. Mayo & a lottery pick.

Although I would have been crushed if Pierce had been traded, I dont want to see him in any other uniform but a Celtics one. He needs to retire a C.

Celtics clinched the division last night w/ a win over the Magic. Allen, Rondo, & Pietrus didn't play.

W/ the Hawks winning tonight they clinch home court advantage against the Celtics in the 1st round of the playoffs. Series starts Sunday night.

Rondo, Allen, Pierce, & KG should have plenty of rest.

@Pflanns: The Celtics will play Game 1 on Sunday night in Atlanta at 7 p.m. Game 2 is Tuesday. Game 3 back in Boston is Friday and Game 4 is Sunday.

W/ Rose going down for the rest of the playoffs the path to the ECF just got a lot easier for the Celtics.
