I'm sure a million threads are going to be started about the hire( with the 7,000 new members added in the last 3 days) But lets get a poll. Please Vote if you view so we can get an accurate % of the fans that like/dislike the hire.

No, I struggle to imagine a candidate that I would be more upset if UT had hired them. All this guy did was lose games in the WAC.

Yes because.

1) We moved forward not back.

2) The more I find out about this guy the more I foresee good things being possible.

3) I think he's a good fit at UT. The reason being he's my all accounts a underdog just like the team.

4) I liked his character that came through pretty clear at the presser.

I fail to see how we really moved forward. I understand you mean that we didn't revert back to members of an old regime, but to me moving forward to me is going in the direction of SEC championships and BCS games, and we were a lot closer to all that even under Fulmer than we are today.

To be honest, I'm not. I really wish that we would have hired one of those "Big Names"... However, Dooley hit it out of the park in the press conference today, and got my support. I wish we'd have got a bigger name, but I'll support CDD.

If he's somehow able to salvage this recruiting class, I'll be fully excited for 2010.

I completely disagree with this. If not for Cutcliffe's salvage job on Ainge and the Offense for two years, Fulmer may have closed out with four straight losing seasons.

But there is no denying that we did actually play for the SEC title in '07. Do you figure over or under 5 years on UT being in the SECCG again? I personally think it's WAY over now, with Kiffin I though we were a year or two away.

Of course not. There's no denying that the year before Cutcliffe ran the offense we went 5-7, and the year after we went 5-7. We definitely were not on the right track under Fulmer.

I agree that 2011 season, the SECCG was a possibility under Kiffin. The guy may have been garbage for a human being, but he was a good recruiter (and seemed like a good coach).

Under Dooley, I have no idea. I know the guy won the Independence Bowl last year with WAC backups, and played people tough this year with no depth (3rd string QBs were lining up as slot receivers).
If we keep some semblance of this year's recruiting class together, and get a good class next year, he won't have any excuses. He'll have nearly the same talent as Kiffin would have in 2011.

So we'll see.

I would've prefered wittingham, but considering the situation....I'm ok.

I'm not mad...if he can't hack it he will be gone.

If keeping the recruiting class means lying to kids, he may not be able to do it. But I believe he is not nearly as much over his head as was the most recent coach and that with the right staff he will be successful.

At least I won't have to face all of the questions about the integrity of the coach every time I wear my orange in public.

So far, I don't have a reason to be unhappy. I enjoyed watching him at the press conference, and I'm looking forward to seeing what he does with this team.

He WANTED to come here.

Big difference between acceptance and actually liking the hiring.

I feel like deja vu. After one press conference everyone suddenly thinks it's a great hire.

Not a hard decision when you're at La. Tech.
