there's something about putting the AB's on, sitting out side on a patio with some buddies and having some beer.

i'll just call it what i have it all called on my ipod. Good Times.

I do enjoy putting some Allman Brothers on. I'm a big fan of Widespread Panic, too. Still has a Southern feel, but not the blues that the Allmans were so great at.

I like Lynard S better than the OBs.

Lynard Skynard is great, after you've drank a quart of John Barleycorn, they might be as good as the Allmans.

Good Call. We listen to lots of ABB on our Tuesday night pickings here in town, we play lots of Irish influenced 'grass when we make our own music. Only rule is, if you are there, you have to play, normally theres 65-70 people there now, I sing alot, as i know all the old ballads, but i also rub a washboard with the best of them, and clawhammer a banjo with the absolutely worst of them!

"Dont fly, mister blue bird, Im just walking down the road,
Early morning sunshine tell me all I need to know."

Not a bad line.

That is a great line, but not my favorite in that song.

As someone who will always holds th Carolinas close to his heart, this has always been my favorite Allman Bros line:

"Good old sunday morning, bells are ringing everywhere.
Goin to Carolina, it wont be long and Ill be there"

I've always loved James Taylor's "Carolina in my Mind" as well.

"can't you see the sunshine, can't you just feel the moon shining. ain't it just like a friend of mine to hit me from behind, yes i'm going to Carolina in my mind"

also, while not as good as the Allman Bros., LYNYRD SKYNYRD deserves to have their name spelled correctly.

Please Call Home for my favorite brothers tune, but Not My Cross to Bear is a close second.

Hat, have you heard the live version? Its unplugged. Pretty good stuff.

i've heard several different live version of this song-be it just Gregg and Warren, the whole band, etc.

hard to pin down which version you are referring to.

I'll look later -- on the Ipod from Itunes, if that helps.

GAVol, do they still have the gathering of brothers and sisters in Maconga? I remember when I was in school they had a candlelight vigil at Rose Hill.

For those who have not been, you can see a statue of Little Matha and Duane and Berry's gravesites. They both have mushrooms carved on thier headstones.

Blue Sky is probably my favorite tune of thiers, but Melissa is right up there as well.

It doesn't get any better than "The Allman Brothers at The Filmore East"

I heard "Melissa" this morning when my alarm went off. A nice song to wake up to.

I saw the Allman Brothers live at least half a dozen times. Duane Allman was an incredible guitarist.

Jupiter Coyote has a song called lucky day that they incorporate the ABB song Dreams in their jam. Pretty awesome. I'll post a video later on.

I love the Allman Brothers and Skynyrd. It took the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame way too long to induct Lynyrd Skynyrd. For that matter, it took too long to induct the Allman Brothers as well.

Is the new album good? I skipped Bonnaroo a year (or two?) ago because the Allman's cancelled. Gregg will be there this year, so I'll be going.
