The Official #8 Tennessee vs. #4 Florida Game Thread, 1:00 PM ET, ESPN

Y’all tune in and watch Yaxel Lindeborg from UAB. He has 9 points and 10 rebounds at the half against Memphis and was bringing up the ball when their point guard went out. Dude is 6-9 and 230. Definite MBA player.

I said it a few times throughout the year. Igor is the difference in us being a good team and a team that could win it all. In a game like today where you are playing one of, if not the best team in the country you have to have a big that can at least be a threat to score. Okpara is what he is. A solid defender and only gonna get points on lobs and put backs. Igor had 4 points and 1 rebound today. He has to do more if we want to make a run.
I agree , Tennessee got destroyed inside today. Florida put on a clinic inside with bix out and setting screens

I don’t know the name of the Florida center, but the Florida inside players got away with pushing and moving screens in both the Alabama and Tennessee games. The refs are absolutely horrible. Not worth watching.
Yep, A couple of times, Florida's post player looked like an offensive lineman clearing a lane for a running back.

Yeah…we were at a bar watching and i was like, “ you can’t let them get three shots at a basket to your one and expect to win”.

We did an admirable job getting it to within 5 points there in the second half, but man, UF just destroyed us on the boards.

And he has a year of eligibility left. Make him an NIL offer he can’t refuse.

Igor got a phantom foul called on him on an inbound play that was his second foul in the first half. Had to sit and never could get back in the flow.

We put up a heck of a fight today. Florida is really good. They have 4 big guys that are all about the same and can even shoot 3s. All 4 are better than the 2 we have (Igor really wants to be a wing, he struggles to guard in the post). I guess with that many players they can afford to redshirt the guy that is 7 foot 9 on their bench. Our guards (especially ZZ and Gainey) played their butts off but just can’t overcome the rebounding advantage. I love Mashack but sometimes his defender just can play a one man zone and stand in the middle of the lane clogging things up. The good news is: nobody got hurt and now we have a chip on our shoulder. Also, we have at least 3 days to get ready for a team that, unless Satan is making out the bracket, will not be from the SEC!

I'm an old-school guy and love the defense, toughness and teamwork that Tennessee basketball success is based on, but until Coach Barnes recruits more scoring, we won't win the really big games or get to a final four.
Barnes chose to go with a short roster this year, only 11 scholarship players. One got hurt, one quit. Now he has 9, with Boswell limited. Missing another big man limits this team, especially considering Felix & Phillips have no offense & Igor disappears a lot. I’m not saying they don’t hustle but being shorthanded & limited talent wise to that degree hinders this team when playing top 10 teams.

If I knew that Doug Shows was reffing this game today I would have told you FL wins. I didn't think he would because he Reffed yesterday the FL game, I think. What's more, yesterday the one ref tried to give the game to Auburn.
I didn't know who he was , but it was interesting seeing him standing there during warmups and shaking hands with every FL player as came around in line. I was curious if he would do this with both teams - nope. Is he a known FL lover ..?

That happens when they call ticky tack fouls against your bigs and you have to play OLE’ defense to only foul out two guys. What Okpara was allowed to give compared to when he was whistled was nuts.

Not to mention the contact on ZZ driving through the key causing at least 2 turnovers.

That said, their big time late in clock long balls and their recovery from blocks with lay ins was the big difference in the game.

Like a lot of games, the refs changed the score, not the outcome. FL played good enough to win, we did not. HOPEFULLY a two seed with a favorable bracket awaits us.

I would consider adding a BIG BODY off the FB team and let them lower their shoulder and drive to the goal, evidently legal for everybody but Chaz.

It is tough to know but if it was Doug Shows one should look at every game we lost this year to see if he was referring. In this game alone one could rewatch the games and see how many fouls were called by him on Tennessee and then when he finally started calling fouls on FL players.
I hate this but it makes me sick to think about it. Yesterday and today, the refs almost gave it to Auburn and today the foul calling was just one sided. Shows was the difference. Anytime you have 4 players with 4 fouls or more is ridiculous. Players play on their heels in that situation.
Shows is the culprit.

I don't understand why we came up with an up-tempo game plan. This seems like the last thing we would want to do against UF. I was thinking a slow-down mud wrestling-type game would be obvious. That's why I am sitting here, I guess.
