Nice win, but why be happy if we lose? We literally can and I think almost should win the whole thing this year. The teams are good, but we have what it takes.I was going to be disappointed if we didn’t make the sweet 16. Now we did so every win from here on out is gravy. We’re playing with house money as far as I’m concerned!
Butler is hurt but playing and Robinson is out. However, they've played above their heads even with injuries, at times. They just aren't a really good team. I really don't like a rematch with Illinois and the way that game would be played.i totally think we could and probably would beat Illinois, but I prefer Kentucky.Does ky still have injuries or did everyone return?
I was an 80s kid and listened to a lot of games . Don Devoe was the coach . I ended up going to college at the Naval Academh and he was our coach. David Robinson’s brother was in my class. Chuck Robinson. If you would've come up to me in my driveway in 90 while I was shooting hoops while listening to Vol hoops(we didn't have cable and we weren't even on tv much anyway) on the radio and told me I'd see them make 9 Sweet 16's, I'd have laughed. Then I'd have asked you to get off of my property.
That's awesome. Thank you for your service. I have a buddy that was at the Academy late 80's early 90's.I was an 80s kid and listened to a lot of games . Don Devoe was the coach . Thanks. Cool story to share I ran track at the Academy and was also recruited by Tennessee. We came down to run a cross country invitational at Tennessee once. Day before the race we go to the course to check it out. Tennessee team was there and when the Tennessee coach (George Watz). saw me he shouted out “there is a Rocky Topper!”That's awesome. The 7' 4 guy was shooting everything short and being pushed out on and O and basically fatigue got to him after coming back after half. The UCLA staff decided he was not effective from what they saw and made the decision IMO they had seen this trend a lot this year. I also felt a lot of what he did the 1st half were very fortunate situations that just fell in his lap.He led them in assists too (only 3) despite the limited minutes. I wonder if he just isn’t in great shape? He’s not a regular starter for them he looked pretty gassed. Still, I would have rolled with him if I were Cronin
Yep, Gainey missed his first 4 shots and a front end of a 1&1. Then he was golden after he made a driving layup and finally got going. Mashack made a couple of critical 3s also.This.
Our bigs must give us something moving forward. Some points inside to take pressure off ZZ, Chaz, and Gainey. Those three played well 2nite. Happy Gainey got it going, esp getting to foul line in first half.
