This.Second half was a masterclass until about 5 or 6 minutes left, when we took the foot off the gas. UCLA was going to go full bore regardless of the score, which made that score closer.
Overall, great adjustments at the half and the offense worked well with Lanier getting blanketed by defenders until they couldn’t do that any longer. Need bigs to step up next game, either opponent.
I really think we'd rather play Kentucky. Illinois is better. I am aware they've beaten us twice but I refuse to be scared of them. If you want to go where we want to go, you gotta earn it, and nothing would be sweeter than earning it while knocking them out.Which would be Rupp North. Their turnout would dwarf ours. We need Illinois to beat them.
We already beat Illinois. Let's beat ky. Though, let's beat Illinois if we have to play them.I really think we'd rather play Kentucky. Illinois is better. It is very difficult to beat a team 3 times in a season.Agreed. Lamont Butler is basically playing with one arm and Robinson is done for the year. Illinois has a ridiculously high ceiling if they are playing up to it. Kentucky has obviously had our number, but I think they are a better matchup for us.
Yep, there is no way they shouldn't beaten us once, much less twice. No way it happens 3 times. I don't think it would be close, really.Agreed. He led them in assists too (only 3) despite the limited minutes. I wonder if he just isn’t in great shape? He’s not a regular starter for them he looked pretty gassed. Still, I would have rolled with him if I were CroninHappy to have at least one more week of basketball season! Great win with some Barnes teaching moments from those last 6 minutes. I was expecting a rock fight for 40 minutes and was surprised we blew it open as it seemed UCLA was peaking entering the tournament.
Can’t figure out why UCLA didn’t really play their big guy in the second half as he was their leading scorer in the first half and was causing us trouble around the rim?
