It's a little ironic considering the history of each player that Jordan Gainey has 17 points on 6-12 shooting, whereas Chaz Lanier is going out on 12 points from 3-15 shooting. Not sure I would have seen that coming back before the season started. Gainey really came into his own this year.

Hats off to Houston....they just a better team than we are. Plain and simple

They played good but we shot ourselves in the foot the first half. We buried any chance we had with the brick truck.

Houston was the bottom 1 seed. Us the top 2 seed. I get that some of yall will feel better thinking there was some imaginary talent gap, but this isn’t us vs Ohio State in football. We loss this game because we weren’t mentally ready for the first 15 minutes of game. That’s a much more painful thing to face, I get it. But it’s the reality. It is what it is. The players will be the first to admit it in the press conference. As frustrated as we are, I promise it’s nothing compared to how they feel. It was a special group of guys this year, it’s tough way for them to go out, but this will go down as an all time great team here. Kudos for a great season, and if we keep knocking on that final 4 door, eventually it will open. We’re making progress, before we wouldn’t even get to this point. We have now in back to back seasons.

Love your perspective but Vols will be way down next season

when I said "we" I was absolutely thinking of Barnes, but when he's mentioned a history lesson always follows. I love Barnes but this might be as far as he can lead a team. the game preparation and adjustments for this one was atrocious. Houston is good, but this game should have never been this lopsided.

Back at on me again. I was just following the score on ESPN while watching the BaseVols sweep SC and LadyVols take a series AT OKLA, their first such loss since 2006. I come back 10 down and bingo bango they drain all those 3’s. Wish the other game lasted longer.

I still think the issue is recruiting, Barnes needs a Shaq-like Center IMO. Some one like that Edey guy for Purdue that can really dominate and score in the paint. That seems to be what we are missing. It is not easy to find that.
