Yep, you get to discount anybody that makes stupid statements like that. Hard to overcome so many players being SO inconsistent from distance and having to change game plans and then modify in game. He has been masterful to get us to this point.

I will reserve judgement for the tournament. It’s a given coming into the season we would be a lock for a 4 seed or better coming of a year where we made the Elite 8. If we hold serve and get a 2 seed in back to back years, mission accomplished in terms of reloading the roster given who we lost from last year’s team.

Lanier is getting paid to shoulder our offense in the tourney. He has been a pleasant surprise this season given how it started with his scoring. Igor since the flu has started to really produce.

If we wind up getting 2 seed or higher, this season has just been one big practice for the tourney.

Total sh$$ losses vs UK. Vols decided to dribble drive and shoot 2 pt shots that were challenged.

I kinda blame this on Barnes and not for us to try to set something up down low.
At the 2:10 mark KY hit a HUGE 3 pointer for them to go up by 6 points.
We come down , waste about 20 seconds and Igor shoots a 3 on the top of the key.
If we had at least tried to draw a foul we could’ve cut it down by 4 points.
KY comes back for an easy dunk. Now we are down by 8 .
Lanier chucks three 3’s and misses all of them.
TN going 0-4 in three pointers in the last 2 minutes down by 6 makes no sense to me.

I'll just say this...

Kentucky isn't a mediocre team, that's pure stupidity. They're style and roster is a bad matchup. They have length on the perimeter and 6 players that shoot 36% or better (4 at 40% or better). We have always played help defense on drivers and rarely switch on screens which gives teams opportunities to shoot 3s. They take them and hit them.

They're defense is bad when you can drive on them, we aren't a good team at driving.

All that and we still have 2 terrible shooting nights from 3 and that's the only reason we lose.

6 games left and we need to go 5-1 to have a shot at a 1 seed. Just take care of business Saturday against Vandy and then get ready for the back to back road games the following week.


Also Mashack has to stop handicapping us on offense. He had 1 attempt tonight and it was blocked because he didn't go up strong.

I think we’ll end up with 2nd seed.

I see us losing two down the stretch. If I had to guess, Bama and aTm willl be our losses. It won’t surprise me if we beat Bama and struggle vs. Ole Miss.

If this team ends up as a 5 seed they'll be fortunate. Barnes' teams seem to always peak early and fade down the stretch. Playing too tight right now. Let em fly boys. Coach Kimmy has a better brand of ball imo.

I’m just not going to blame refs for this game. There were bad calls both ways….Kentucky just executed better. They had a patchwork roster, and still hit 12-24 from three. Tennessee didn’t stop them.

Barnes has 9 NCAA tournament wins at UT over his 9 seasons.

Pearl has 7 NCAA tournament wins at Auburn over his 10 seasons.

I bet without looking Barnes is top 10 among active coaches in NCAA victories in the 9 years he has been at UT.

I know it's football, but applies to all sports, you need to read Neyland's Maxim 3. And then tell me which one says to be a crybaby about officials instead of controlling the things you can control.

I do too personally. Trying to split ole miss and A&M won’t be easy. Bama gonna want some serious blood coming to Knoxville after last year.

They will make the tournament for sure but will likely be out in the 1st weekend. Offense got stifled tonight by a team that gives up 79 points a game and they only managed 64. Tennessee's awesome defense gave up 16 more points than their average. This team has a couple of good wins but is not built for a long run in any tournament. It is what it is......

For some reason Kentucky has been a mad matchup. I think a good bit of it is Kentucky having a 5 man run the offense with good ball handling skills. Allows for so much spacing.
