By all accounts, it's a better ssp gun than the SCAR (which I will now likely sell).

Oh I'm currently watching a Bushmaster ACR on Gunbroker lol

After flirting with a .308 for a while now, I'm standing pat. For now. I don't hunt anymore. Everything I own is for Home/Self Defense. Well, I do have the Henry AR-7 for a post-apocalyptic squirrel gun, but aside from that, all defense.

So it's the AR's and the .45's, and the Mossberg. And enough ammo for each to fight a small regional war. For me to add a .308...gun, accessories, and ammo...would set me back a couple or few more grand. I have better use for that money right now, so...

With what I have in hand, I feel pretty good about my odds out to 100 yards, day or night. Inside or out. At some point, you just have to roll with what you've got. So I'm good. For now. But if I hit the Lottery...

Thanks to all for the good advice. Keep 'em clean, keep 'em loaded, and hit what you aim at.

any recommendations on brands for gun safes?

I am thinking an easy access one for the pistol/self defense set up, and a stand up for "long term" storage.

for the self defense one I don't mind the idea of a biometric or push pattern/immediate open ones. for the stand up safe I would actually prefer a mechanical/keyed one that I don't have to worry about keeping charged.

pretty open to spending for quality, but I want to make sure I actually get quality.

I would look at heavy grade steel commercial inventory safes, possibly from a business closing down. There are deals to be found. 2 layers of sheetrock, felt, and design your own shelves and racks.

For the bedside, GunVault is a decent brand. I've never tried the stop box or other push button ones I get spammed with constantly.

yeah, that is kinda my worry. I get bombarded with certain products, and it just seems like a scam.

I have a hard time telling what is a legit product vs something spammed out there.

Several years ago(1994 to be exact), I bought my first long gun safe made by American Security.

They are still in business even though the dealer I purchased mine from is not. According to the link, they still offer mechanical style locks. I personally prefer the fireproof packages but they certainly add substantial weight which may affect placement. Mine is on concrete.
I actually like the AMSEC better than the Heritage which was purchased later. It just seems better built and door fitment is much tighter.

Mine was over 900# empty before I did the fireproofing treatments. Prob around 1100# now. Moving her was quite the experience.

The one I am considering is the Rare Breed. It is supposedly a drop in for mill spec lowers. Do you perhaps know the brand he used?
