The Official 2nd Amendment Appreciation Thread

Just a word of caution: one trigger, one trigger "memory".

Different triggers = different trigger fingers. If you're a competition shooter, then you've already mastered that art. As for me, if I have to shoot, it's because I have to shoot. Best for me if I am conditioned to the trigger.

Then again, I shoot a Glock 22 (duty), Glock 30S, RIA compact .45, and a SA 1911 .45 Range Officer. 4 different triggers (yeah, the 22 and 30S feel different). So maybe I'm full of it.

Get what you want, and have fun with it.

Oh...and Go Vols.

I've got probably 8 or more ARs most with mil spec triggers. I have a Couple with Geissele SSA triggers. I don't shoot competitively but my family owns a private range and we're thinking of setti g up so e simulation situations. I was just looking to try something different.

Wish I had that setup. Keep us in the loop.

The "training" problem you fall into is training methods you use are put into practice during "live" situations. Hence, a bunch of different triggers on standard setups can cause problems under stress. And a single stage, really light trigger might not be the best option.

Have you looked at the ALG Defense QMS or ACT? It's a mil-spec trigger that's been polished and has a really nice pull.

No I haven't. I wouldn't call what we are doing training. More just some friendly competition between family. I love the SSA, just looking for a change up. I'll check those out.

OAN, have you ever checked out the drop in groups?

Thanks as always.

I installed one once. CMC if memory serves. No trouble at all.

Looking for a little advice, I’ve had a bad pistol habit for several years and feel like I’m somewhat knowledgeable in that area, but lately I’ve had the itch for an AR and honestly I don’t know where to start at all. Could you guys point me in the right direction as far as what I need to look for and what I need to stay away from. I’ve always been a big fan of Sig but when I mention that I don’t get good reactions most of the time regarding their AR line. I’m looking to spend $1k or less to start out with. I hate to buy something I’ll regret later due to my ignorance. Thanks in advance.

You can't go wrong with:

Colt 6920, Palmetto State Premium line, Sig M400 (it's not as bad as some let on), Springfield Saint or the Smith and Wesson M&P 15 Sport

For under a grand.

Is there an acceptable price difference between LGS and online. I've never bought online but what I'm eyeing I can save $300+ on the sales price and the FFL transfer, even at a rather high $75, is less than half of what the sales tax would run. The good price is from Bud's, which my preferred LGS won't even accept a transfer from so LGS won't be getting jack if I buy online.

$75 is a ridiculously high transfer fee.

Find you another ffl

Yeah, this.

I can get it done around here for as low as $20.

Thanks. I'm finding that most of the contact first FFL near me and that I have either done business with or have at least browsed in will not take a transfer from Buds. I think about the guy who had the trouble with FFL in Knoxville. I'll see if I can negotiate the LGS a bit although I really hate haggling in a retail store.

That was me with the trouble with the FFL. I just now was able to pickup my purchase from February. Obviously I won't use them again. Still waiting on a suppressor I paid for two years ago this August.
