The Official 2nd Amendment Appreciation Thread

Finally finished the pistol that I’ve been collecting parts for.
First one I’ve put totally together.

•Anvil arms lower
•Rock river lower parts kit
•Sun Devil upper
•Wilson arms 10.5 inch 223 Wilde barrel, carbine gas tube
•LMT bolt carrier, BCM charge handle.
•Spikes buffer and tube
•Magpul AFG-2 and K2 grip
•Blade brace
•Vortex strikefire 1 (for now)

Still need iron sights but, I’m happy with it for now.

Can’t figure out why my pics are upside down but here they are anyway.

I could be wrong but I think that is breaking the law.

Nah, its legit, and since its a pistol I can carry it loaded in my vehicle because of my CCW. Thats the main reason I wanted to build a pistol.

I was talking about the foregrip but GV said the angle ones are permitted on the pistol. The vertical are not.

I wonder why? I mean I’m not saying any gun laws have any basis on reality but his one has me guessing

He said the ATF has ruled the angled foregrips are not considered the same as the vertical foregrip. He would know better than me.

So do you guys completely field strip to clean every time? I’m kind of OCD about it. Just curious.

Just a note for the regulars here...

We all have our favorite ammo supply. Mine is whichever offers the rounds I want for the cheapest price. To that end, I use ammoseek.com to find suppliers. Usually, I end up at PSA or TargetUSASports. Recently, I found a great deal (!) for 55gr 5.56 at "ExpertAmmo.com", out of somewhere in Missouri. Ordered; got an email; and then nothing. Upon further investigation, they are apparently a ripoff.

So I sent an email to ammoseek.com about them; disputed the charge with Navy Fed (I'll get my money back eventually); and ordered the same ammo from SGAmmo. It'll be here by mid-week. For 5 bucks more than I paid to get shafted.

Just wanted y'all to be aware, and to give GV yet another chance to lecture me.

Standing by.....

Yes. I get the whole "it doesn't have to be clean enough to eat out of" logic, but if it's something that my life might depend on, I just can't help but break down and clean...every time.

Which means 4 guns (three .45's and an AR) X 4 hours at the range = 2 to 3 hours of cleaning time in the garage. Every time. If I shoot my duty G22, add an hour overall, since now we're at 3+1+1. Gun math.

So for me, a trip to the range, from A to Z, is an all-day affair.

PSA has had the best deal of late for brass. $299 with free shipping. At least that's the best I've found.

I won't lecture you. You were trying to save dough, nothing wrong with that.

Otherwise, good tip for us to avoid in the future.

I'm pissed. I have a conditioned response to thieves of any method. If this were 1865, I'd ask you to meet me in Missouri to watch my back while I walked into that saloon with a scattergun.

Live and learn. Sooner or later, we all have to eat our own cooking, and their day will come.

In hindsight (isn't it always 20/20?), I should have done just a bit more research. It looked too good to be true, and apparently it was.

'preciate the soft landing.

I actually find it quite cathartic to clean them. It took me a few times to figure out the bolt carrier group but you tube helped. I haven’t pulled out the extractor yet but I plan on cleaning it before I shoot again. I use a foam cleaner in the trigger and hammer well. I like the plastic covered wire with brass to clean the barrel. Any suggestions or alternate ideas? Go back and light oil all parts.

YouTube is good. I use a brass wire brush and a toothbrush. I don't clean after every shooting session. If I know I'll be shooting again in a day or two, I'll just wait and do it after I'm done for a while. The oil I use is castor oil gun lube. I'm not sure they make it anymore and I'm all but out.
