The Official 2nd Amendment Appreciation Thread

I’m needing recommendations for a compact pistol for concealed carry.

This is for a woman.

Only requirement she has is that it’s pink. Lol

I’m looking for recommendations on caliber and realibilty.

Thank you

For a woman... :eek:lol:

If she is not use to a semi-auto, I would suggest a snub nosed revolver (hammerless) for safety. My wife carries a Ruger LCR .38/.357 which gives her the flexibility to carry "softer" loads in .38. If I carry it, I use .357. Its a virtually fail safe defense gun. You may be able to find some pink grips, too.

I agree with everything you have stated. But if she wants pink, I see no reason why a quality weapon isn’t available.

With all the cerakote stuff today pick the right gun first, then worry about color. Color should not be the primary driver of buying something that may save your life.

If it’s someone that has little training I would say find a revolver. My mom keeps asking about another gun but she has a .38 detective that is plenty. She doesn’t have to worry about if there’s one in the chamber, racking a slide, clearing a jam. Just squeeze and bang. Her friends have semi autos but they have zero gun knowledge and frankly I would not want to be around them if they’re carrying. They basically bought guns to take the HCP class.

Thanks GV.

I’ll look in to these. I know a lot of folks go with the 380 but to me, like you, it’s too small of a round.

I think Ruger makes the LC9s in different colors and it's wildly popular. (haven't shot one myself) Do note the "s" designation as I think most people greatly prefer the trigger vs the original LC9. I have no personal experience with either of the Rugers but I can +1 on the Kahr and add that I like the S&W Shield as well.

Almost as an aside but anybody been hands on with the new Sig P365?

The LC9 is a handful so to speak. I don't know about how OB's lady can "handle" such things, but the Kahr tends to be fairly gentle in the P series 9mm.

I did have to caveat my lack of personal experience with the Ruger and only know how popular it is...plus it can be had in pink. :)

It's funny how many people really don't know anything about the Kahrs. (maybe it freaks some people out that the founder is Sun Myung Moon's son)

Just tossing in my caveat of personal experience.

I didn't care for it necessarily. But then again, I'm not a fan of Ruger semiautos anyway.

GV, that ZEV trigger is really begging me to go get it.

You got a barn? I can probably scrounge up bus fare...

Go Vols.

Went out to the Guns and Leather in Greenbriar with my dad and granddad yesterday. Since last year, my dad got the gun fever and has a nice collection. My favorites are his Sig 1911 and Colt .44 Mag. I wish I could afford to collect like he does lol. What a blast! (DAD PUN!!!!)

I should have gotten a better pic. That's my Glock 23, and the one on the right is some kind of .22 target pistol.

So what I got out of all that, aside from the beautiful guns, was that if any of you all are shooting at me, I should wear something with the number "16" on it...

As I mentioned, I can't tell you about Glock upgrades other than this:

I gotta log off for a while. "Sanddune50" got into it with everybody in the Albert Haynesworth thread over in the FF. Apparently he's a NAGA guy, and challenged somebody (or everybody, I couldn't tell) to a match. You know the type. Must have finally caught a Mod's attention because he's gone silent, and all of his posts have disappeared.

And I am just dying to post a Yosemite Sam gif. If I do, I'll likely be joining him in the penalty box, so...I think I'll take the afternoon off. Check back this evening.

Keep Safe.

Mosin-Nagants are bad enough with a shoulder fire.

WTF was someone thinking with this?

As you say, mosin’s are bad enough already, someone actually made it worse. Never underestimate the technical knowledge of billy bob with his hacksaw, and a bit of J.B. weld lol

Mosin Nagants are hands down the worst battlerifle of ww2. Even the sniper versions are bad.

Remember when you could buy them from Big 5 for $80? And get a case of surplus ammo for about the same.

One thing about it, you weren't going to shoot a case in a day with the thing.

Thanks to Battlefield 1 I know what this is about. It’s called an Obrez and they were used in the Russian revolution for sidearms because handguns were difficult to obtain. So they sawed down mosins to make a concealable weapon. I would imagine they’re pretty collectible given the history.

Cool info. I learned something today.

But, I think the Russians were beaten to the idea of that a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away.

Do any of you own in-ear electronic hearing protection? If so, any recommendations?

I want something in-ear so I can easily use it when shooting shotguns as muffs tend to get in the way and also aren’t practical when hunting. And they would be used more frequently at indoor pistol ranges.

What I’ve seen so far can get quite expensive, but I’m willing to splurge if it's for good ones that will last me, as I have now begun shooting a lot
