The Official 2nd Amendment Appreciation Thread

62gr TAP barrier. It’s non-bonded, but looks almost the same as the Federal 62gr JSP.

I probably need to see how it patterns.

It's Hornady, so I'd be real surprised if it isn't accurate as all get out. If memory serves, it has a thicker jacket instead of being bonded. But I'd feel safe carrying it, but not mixing it into my regular load.

So I ordered another 100 rounds of Federal 62gr JSP to fill out my ready mags. I'll move the Hornady 62gr TAP to reserve.

80 bucks to make sure I have 6 mags of a known BB round ready for immediate use, and I gain 16+ mags of a solid, accurate, maybe BB round to my Zombie Closet with the Hornady 62gr TAP. And I can use the "left over" rounds after I fill mags to compare point of aim / impact on my weekend range days.

Since I carry 6 + 1 mags when I'm out with the SO, this is the right move. 210 rounds of the Federal 62 gr JSP will get me into, and hopefully out of, any school, church, mall, or whatever that I have to go in to. I trust that round. All I have to do is put it on target.

It's a win-win.

Somehow ended up with? You're turning into a certified ammo whore.

"certified ammo whore"? Why Ike, what an ugly thing to say.....

Yeah, I picked it up months ago (?) when I was looking for a viable alternative to the $.80 to $1.00 per round for the Federal 62JSP. Just forgot I had it until I started setting up my loaded, ready, and reserve ammo storage.

And just for the record Hoss, you started me on this path to ballistic bankruptcy.

Go Vols.

Uh huh.

I'm like the poster child for peer pressure.

Yeah, I did a full inventory Sunday. Including the stuff on the shelf that I don't count because "I'm going to shoot it anyway".

On second thought, you were right.

Since ammo hoarding/whoring has been mentioned, what's everyone's estimated round count on hand? Total or separate by caliber?

Couldn’t even tell you after a couple beers. Fake news thinks anything over 100 rounds is a “stockpile” so I have a stockpile.

Can I answer with I have piles of cans in one place and another pile in another and several boxes in another?

No doubt you have altered the magnetic signature of the earth due to the amount of metal you have on your property.

You can probably look up and see airliners changing course due to their compasses going haywire when they fly over your house.

Personally, I'm jealous.

He's a class act. Did me a world of good while I was bringing my AR's into the 21st Century. I just enjoy trying to bust his chops from time to time. Never works, but I have to try.

Class act, that one.
Oh, me and Grand go back. He's spent a lot of my money too. I've built a dozen or so of them.

Buy cheap. Stack deep.

Good advice.

Just for your entertainment, I worked day shift today. Met up with another deputy on the north end, and he saw my patrol rifle. So I gave him the nickel version. He said "Man, I'd love to have one set up like that."

And here's what I told him, no sh*t. "Join VolNation. Go find GrandVol. Tell him you know me. Tell him what you want to do. Do what he says. Bring your checkbook."

Thought you might get a kick out of that.

He'd get a 1/7 barrel lol

It's a long tale...

That it is. Flawed though it may be, my logic for wanting an HBAR was consistent POI as the barrel heated up. Going that route meant taking the 1/9 twist (for a Colt). Then, once I was infected with "GrandVol-itis", I decided redundancy was in order, which meant another HBAR (with the resulting 1/9 twist). Thanks to you, I have two HBAR's, set up for two totally different missions, both of which will drill holes with anything from 55-69 grain rounds, depending on the target and the range.

In the world of AR-15 gurus that you pole dance in, I barely qualify as a neophyte. But thanks in large part to you, I'm well-equipped to deal with anything that shows up at my door, or within roughly 300 yards, give or take.

That sound about right?

You're a good egg, GV. I already knew that, but the rescue story and pics sold me. Turns out we're not that far apart...well, except for twist rate.

Go Vols.
