The Official 2nd Amendment Appreciation Thread

I'd be pretty surprised if it went for less than 1700. Never know though...a "no reserve" auction can make for some steals and Dirty Harry's .44 doesn't carry near the cachet these days as Rick Grime's Colt.

Indeed. I figure around $1700ish possibly pushing $2kish if a bidding war commences. Looking on GB, the prices are all over the place for 4 screw smiths.

How silly does colt look now for selling off their Python tooling? Pythons are ok, the smiths are just work horses though. The late pythons and anacondas were rubbish. Yet, they demand a premium.

I guess I'll eventually pick up a 6" model 29. Me and a buddy are getting into long range handgunning.

If you're thinking of getting serious about long range revolver shooting consider a 454 Casull or even 460 S&W. Advantage being one can also shoot good old .45 Colt if you wanted.

Thanks. I've been using my .45 Colt Blackhawk and my Smith model 28 .357 mag. It's more just friendly competition than anything else.

Plus, I think it's just another justification for my N frame smith obsession. I'm sure you know how it gets lol

Actually a good Blackhawk can be damned accurate and loaded quite hot. Have you checked the cylinder throats? LOTS of Rugers are known to be too tight in that area. More an issue with cast bullets than jacketed but still...

I've only recently gotten into single actions. It started with that Henry purchase. I've been using buffalo bore cast rounds. Thanks for the info!

I really need to find the time to get into reloading.

Do a quick tour around the net and there's lots on the subject. Basically if your cylinder throats are swaging the bullet down too much they are then undersized when engaging the barrel. Obviously that's not going to be ideal for accuracy.

Reloading is absolutely the way to go if you shoot recreationally much at all, particularly if not one of the handfull of "standard" calibers.

Thank you sir! Much appreciated.

Got a chance to handle the new Daniel Defense .308 if it shoots as good as it handles, they've got a real winner on their hands. The rail is very low profile and the rifle overall is very slim and trim, doesn't weigh much at all. My shop had $2400 on it, retail is $2800.

Keymod?

Anybody familiar with these?
Ruger gun site .308 scout.

Handles pretty nice, but the balance is odd. You'll need a scout scope for it with the goofy front rail.

TBH, if you're looking for a .308 that size, look at an AR10 patten rifle for the same account of money.

While I've handled them I've not yet had the opportunity to shoot one. I can say I have an acquaintance with one and he seems to like it quite a bit. Here's a pretty favorable write up.

Thanks!
I like it , I want to go shoot one, ruger sends a traditional scope mount which I may like better.
I'd have to shoot it with the forward mount to try it , and ruger sells the 3 and 5 round mags , ruger always bringing it strong!
