Am I reading Dave Van Horn's record right? He's been at Arkansas since 2003. In that time they've been to the MCWS 8 times and have only reached the Finals once, losing to Oregon State in humorous fashion. Is that it?
Yeah he’s been within one game of making the finals several more times. Seems like it’s always another SEC team that gets in the way, mostly LSU.

Arkansas is the tackiest, most downmarket, and insufferable fan base in college baseball imo. So I'm glad they went "full Arkansas" again.

I'm rooting for Coastal, but I'm not emotionally invested. But there are advantages to LSU winning, too, and I don't have any problem with LSU or LSU fans. I like some of them. I've watched baseball and football with them.
As stated before, we've made several friends from LSU at the Hoover Tournament. They are loud but fair. That said, it was interesting watching the last couple of innings of the LSU-Ark. game; Tiger fans had a hang-dog look before that amazing 9th inning rally....I've seen the same look from Tennessee & every fan base. Another reason that Beisbol is so great.

We happened to be in Mardi Gras World (where items for the floats are stored off season) and the affiliated party space in New Orleans for a business meeting last weekend. I didn't notice that the centerpiece of the Tiger float wasn't there. Wasn't looking for it! But when we got home wifey saw people posting sightings on the interstate and saying it was headed to Omaha.

That's a pretty nice night-time cocktail party reception or party area: it looks like you are outdoors with artificial live oaks, Spanish moss, under an artificial night time sky, and with replicas of local style building facades around the edge. But with air conditioning! It almost looks like you're going outside when you first walk in.

I'm posting this photo of Mike in a Mardi Gras parade upside down lest anyone think I don't know that Smokey is the best mascot in the world. Anyone in Omaha see it?

I think that's something to consider.

When some of our fans talk about closing the baseball fan gap, which we do need to do and are doing, it is worth keeping in mind that our fans tend to judge other teams' fans generally by their peak fan frenzies in the most important games. And since those are their non-Tennessee games that we (as third-party fans) are most likely to watch, some bias is created. In some games it is hard for the fans to insert themselves. As in football, in baseball too there is such a thing as an opponent "taking the crowd out of the game."

Not counting Oregon State in 2018 -- since the Beavers were playing Arkansas and the Swine are an automatic choke -- Coastal in 2016 is the last non-SEC to win the CWS.
