The Official 2024 NCAAT Watch Party Thread

UConn is a very balanced team--5 players in double figures last night--AND they've got the big anchor in the middle
in Clingon, which makes all the difference. He's 7'2", sturdy, moves pretty well and he can score. Not a deep team, apparently, as only one
other Husky scored in the game. They play smart basketball---share the ball--and play hard. They had 20
assists for the game (vs 9 for bama)--very impressive--and shot 50 percent. Put all that together and you've got a very good basketball team.

Our style of play was quite similar to UConn's--we shared the ball, play hard on both ends. We had a very good
assist to turnover ratio, which is the mark of a good team. The difference is that their center is more of a pillar for
UConn than Aidoo and Awaka were for us--and Aidoo and Awaka had good seasons, don't get me wrong. Aidoo
just needs a bit more beef and strength. And the other difference is that UConn's scoring is considerably more balanced
than ours was. Even so, bama gave UConn a good game--and we beat bama twice.

We wouldn't have beaten UConn--but it would have been nice to get to the Final Four.

Purdue and Edey will make things a bit tougher in the paint for the Huskies--but I'll be surprised if UConn
doesn't win the title game by at least 10 points. UConn did not shoot the 3-ball well in the first half last night--but
ended up a very respectable 40 percent from deep. Bama shot 48 percent from the 3 line--a very good night--and that
is what kept them in the game until late.

I thought there were alot of good matchups in the Sweet 16 and Elite 8. But NC State and Bama getting to the Final Four was a bit if a letdown. Especially considering the mismatches of going up against 7ft2+ big men they never had a chance of beating
UK getting beat by Oakland ended up being the highlight of the tourney, I’m glad we made the elite 8 but none of the games are going to be classics, Oaklands boy raining a firestorm of 3s on the Mildcats was probably my favorite moment.

The Creighton game gave us a couple of highlights, with the 18-0 run and Knecht nailing those two late threes against the triangle-and-two.

Game is gonna come down to how well the UConn center plays. Gotta be honest, I wasn't blown away by him vs Bama. Hopefully the zebras will let these 2 teams play and call this game evenly both ways. It's the title game. Let 'em play and don't ruin it with ticky tack fouls.

Buzzer beaters and cinderalla stories are overrated in my opinion. I'd rather see the teams that have performed all year and have star power go head to head.

I also feel like there were alot if solid teams this year. Which proved itself true by alot of top teams making the top 16. Overall a better product in my opinion. It was a shame Houston's Jamal Shead was injured.

Only thing I think is terrible is that the top 2 teams jave 7ft2+ centers. Seems like the onvious formula to get ahead of the competition.

Having 7ft2+ players is certainly a good way to rise above the competition

Having a 1vs 2 matchup in the final makes the tournament a little less illegitimate identifying the best teams. Still, a team who wasn't near top 25, and finished 10th in their league, made the FF

Hard to watch Edey play. Those shoulder drop clear outs, forearm pushes, backing into the basket are just ugly basketball to me.

Yes please quote the 3 second rule for me in college basketball.
This is not a quote but a summary of the rule.

It stipulates that a player should not stay in their free-throw lane — the area between the end line and the farther edge of the free-throw line — for more than three consecutive seconds while their team controls the ball in the frontcourt. This rule also applies even if only one foot of the player is touching the lane boundary, as the line is considered part of the lane. Furthermore, all lines marking the free-throw lane — except for the lane-space marks — are also taken to be part of the lane.
