The Official #17 Tennessee vs. Florida State Game Thread, 7:00 PM ET, CBS Sports Network

Hopefully this is a wake up call for this whole team. Today’s offensive effort is completely unacceptable. It wasn’t just missing shots. A total lack of movement and lack of fundamentals all night. If we come back and win tomorrow then great water under the bridge. If they come out and do not run any offensive sets like tonight then we have a problem
This needs to be a wakeup call for our fans. We are going to struggle against length this season, especially when it's as athletic and aggressive as FSU was.

It’s basketball, elite seasons are usually around 5 losses.

Too many of y’all are stuck in a football mindset. Losing Bone, Admiral, Grant & Kyle did ya really expect the team to be better?

I just hope we can have a solid SEC showing and make the tournament.
It’s not the loss that bothers me, it’s how we played. That was lazy, poor basketball.

I would have loved to see “what could’ve” happened without that last turnover.....who knows, but would have been nice to see.

I know a lot of you are disappointed with a lot that went down tonight but you have to think how Bone, Williams, and the Admiral changed over 3/4 years. Your going to have to let the freshman take their lumps and grow just like they did. Look what many many thought of Grant early on. Think about it before you get on the freshman

I think Barnes and all those coaches see how far they have to go and we know they can develop players

That was horrible ****ing basketball. If that doesn’t make you sick then maybe you just don’t care. If Fulk had scored as many times as he was on his ass we win by 20.
Yeah it was. And we barely lost. Against a tourney team. It's hard to imagine us playing that bad again. Couple things go our way we win that game. This game will propel us imo

On the the plus side we played god aweful and the refs were just terrible, but we only lost by 3. That will be a good loss come March and be a good teaching point before we get into SEC play. I’m as disappointed as anybody but I think we get better from this. This is not the tournament I’d like to see them win ultimately.

For the "worst in history" these "pathetic" Vols lost a tight game vs a favored team playing the worst game they have played this year
A 3 point loss to the favored FSU team. "pathetic"?
The turnovers were pathetic. Lazy , sloppy play. By far our worst game of the year and lose to a favored team by three. Worst in history is just a dumb statement but it was very, very bad basketball tonight. Some forced by their D but most of those turnovers were a total lack of regard and value of each possession.

James doesn’t have the ability to play like a 5 star offensively, that much is beyond certain. Literally can’t shoot and he doesn’t seem to have any ability to create his shots and finish. Whoever labeled him a 5 Star was off my about 3 country miles. Kinda like Jarnell Stokes....both more like 3 stars.
This^...Everytime he passes the ball you hold your breath because there is a chance its going to be a steal. He does not even pay attention. He has no business shooting. Agree he is not even close being a 5*

I also guarantee that in the morning I’ll disagree with everything I just said.
Haha I was about to bring you back to earth, but you got it under control.

Can't be too surprised with this game. Bad match up and FSU played very hard and got some favorable calls. We need our shooters to perform better to win these types of games.

I don't get why we fouled down 3 when FSU had the ball with about 35 second left and about 20 on the shot clock. I get if you give up a bucket it's bad but if you don't you get a shot to tie.

I think this was an awareness issue.

Off the rebound guys are used to the total reset instead of the 20 second one.

I'm not sick about it, it's one where we definitely didn't play our best. Fulky got exposed tonight and will a few times this year. He'll win his share too down the road.

This.

I'll give FSU credit for being good defensively but only so far because a TON of those turnovers were lazy effort on our part. And overall FSU really didn't play that great themselves.

Florida State is definitely a top 25 NCAA Tourney team. Playing terribly, yet losing by 3 is a good sign of this team. You knew we would have a tough time winning with both Lamonte and Bowden off, but to play that well defensively is a huge positive. As long as we pride ourselves with hustle and defense this team will win plenty of games.

It's early in the year still, we knew down low was our main problem. We didn't play great but we hung in there, I think this team will get better as the year goes. It's one game and basketball is a marathon, Barnes will get the most out of them in the long run. GBO!
