The Official #15 Tennessee vs. UAB Game Thread, 12:45 ET, SEC Network

The bad news is that this defense is going to give up points in conference play. There is no way around it. The good news is that this defense is going to create many more turnovers and sacks than last years defense. The even better news is that Heupel has shown he can field good teams that win with either offense or defense.
Fair statement. We may need to lean more on the offense this yr.

UT should start letting fans without tickets into the stadium for $20 bucks once more than a quarter of the fans leave.
Some of us would LOVE to be able to be there
Yeah, I was thinking the same thing.

Too many rich , want to be at the hot happening and take a few selfies to post on social media that aren’t really fans buying up tickets

Serious question - have you ever predicted TN to win more than 8-9 games? Did you watch TN football during the Manning years - present?

The GA fans could say the same thing about Joey and TN putting up 38 in regulation - against their top 3 defense. It happens. But most of their fans were happy w/ the win.

Our D has two of its best DBs injured and two D linemen. Moi is a beast. I think our front 7 can be elite with our secondary being the weakness. But anything below 10-2 is disappointing imo.

Every fan base complains about something on their team - offense, defense, penalties, play calling, etc. let’s enjoy the ride as we can win every game.
Serious answer. Going back to the Manning years, how many SEC Championships has UT won? Natty's? So...in, what 31 years?...that number is 2 and 1.

Granted, coaching changes have played a huge role in that. But now we're in Year 5 of Tim Banks. The offense has gotten better. The defense has not.

Winning 10 games, and then getting smoked by, say OSU, means you won 10 games. That's it. There is no trophy for "almost" in CFB. If there were, we'd need another trophy case.

So we're just unlucky with injuries, then? Okay. I'll refer back to the article I posted about what Tim Banks does against Top 20 teams, and PPG allowed in losses. With a healthy defense.

I'm not complaining. I'm calling it as I see it. We can agree to disagree on the root cause.

This is an 8-4 team with this defense. I'm already lined up for at least two crowburgers at season's end.

I can maybe choke down one more. No way this defense gets UT to the SECCG, or much beyond if they do find a way to make the CFP.

I'm a Vol fan, but I'm not blind. It is what it is.

Charges weren't "dropped" in the sense that there was a lack of evidence. His lawyer got him a sweetheart plea deal. He shared abuse videos online and had evidence saved to his phone.
Yeah I wasn't defending anybody. It's just what I read on Wikipedia. Fair or unfair, I'd probably stay away from the kid.

Fair point - it’s a fact we’ve underachieved since 1998. We had the taken 1999-2008 but poor coaching.

But our D was top 10 last year. Ohio State lit up most teams last year. I was there and our offense didn’t help our Defense.

Injuries - I can’t explain them as we’ve lost four guys in first 2 weeks ( McCoy been injured).

There’s a night and day difference between Joey and Jake’s performance. How did that QB competition last as long as it did?

Looks like Syracuse lost their QB to a lower leg injury. We’re toast this season if we lose Joey.
Suddenly that Syracuse game doesn’t look as bad as some thought. Angelo was ripping Clemson apart before getting hurt.
