The Official #13 Tennessee vs. #14 Arkansas Game Thread, 12:00 PM ET, ESPN

I thought Aidoo and especially BHH struggled greatly today. Great win though, glad we were so hot from three

two true freshman who hadn’t been getting a ton of minutes until Olivier went down going against one of the best bigs in the conference.

Still collectively with 10 points 9 boards and 3 blocks.

Their D will come around….if they are both here next year I’d expect good things.

Just think...on January 15th we were sitting at 2-3 in the SEC....fast forward and we finished 14-4. Hell of a coaching job by Barnes this year.
Yes. Also like your best front court offensive player and bring Jonas out of his redshirt changing completely your rotation in post. Great coaching job by whole staff. In CHRIST Alone

It’s interesting you say that. I was actually encouraged by our game at Rupp. I figured our D would come back after that game as UK was just lights out but I was encouraged because of how we played offensively. Someone said after Texas was the turning point but I disagree. I think it started the second half against SC the first time we played them and then continued into Rupp. Yes we played pretty poorly at Texas but we still got better looks than we did in some earlier games and we did it again at Arkansas so I think it’s just tough on the road against top 25-level teams.
I see what you mean. I was going by how uninspired they played at Rupp. I think it was the start of coming together, and Texas was the game that brought them up another level. Outside of Texas and at Arkansas. Offense has been a lot better. Rn I see us at sweet 16 maybe, Elite 8. Most important thing, this team hasn’t peaked yet imo.

So stupid. Nobody cares if you're impressed but 23-7 is a nice season, especially 14-4 in a great conference, and it doesn't matter how you try to frame that.

How do we have such entitled hoops fans?
Horrible take. The Vols have beat 4 teams in the top 15. 3 of the wins were against squads in the top 10.

If either of you followed my quote you would understand I'm talking about Arkansas, not Tennessee. I'm very happy with the Vols performance this season. As for Arkansas, I think their record is a bit deceiving. They haven't been challenged much outside of their arena.

Whoops my bad.

As a long time Braves fan, I was happy to see Blooper having a ball at the ball game and did they show the World Series trophy to the crowd at halftime at mid court?

Thanks for any information.

At one point late in second half and in a close game, I think we had 3 freshman (ZZ, BHH, JA) all on the floor at the same time. Assuming all 3 are here next year, this experience will be valuable. We will need them in the next 2 tournaments.
Nice win

Go Vols!!

We had some weird lineups today for sure. I remember at one point thinking Aidoo and BHH had been on the floor together for a long time.

#39th strength of schedule. They got a huge break with their SEC schedule.

Solid job hitting the three point shots today and Aidoo and Huntley-Hatfield balled out today.

Nice job sending Fulkerson and Jancek out with a win on Senior Day.

I thought Victor Bailey Jr is in his senior year. Guess I'm wrong. I hope he comes back next year with his confidence.

He has one more yr (covid) if he wants to return. Barnes said Bailey is not sure if he will return or pursue something else. As a result, he elected to not go through the festivities in case he returns to the Vols.

It wouldn’t surprise me if he hit the portal.

Bailey gets abused relentlessly on VN but he’s some nice experience to come off of the bench when JJJ gets whistled off the court by the refs. Powell is slow getting his offense diversified (nice 1st half cut to the rim today) and Mashack needs the off season to develop his offense and learn more about how the Barnes defense works. I’m glad that VBj is available and I don’t think he’s shot us out of one game this year. I was redneck mad at him when he gave up on that end of game bad turnover early in the season. He dove on the court for a loose ball today as the final buzzer was going off.

I feel for Bailey that he totally lost his offense this year.

It looks like you're talking about us. I think he's talking about pig.

If he did extend the arm and push off it won’t matter. I don’t know if he did or not but they called it.

He was pulling up and literally raising the ball up to shoot the ball that went in and was disallowed I think. One would be hard pressed to replay all of college basketball games for this season and find a remotely similar call on an offensive player. I can live with human judgement issues with refs till the law of averages gets way out of hand.

I am exteremely glad, that just like the AU game I can complain as a sore winner and cannot be accused of being a sore loser. We got about 10% of every possible 50/50 call, especially in the period right after our biggest lead. Momentum is what it is and the refs need to stay out of the business. Way too many no calls on the other end to call it as close as they did on ours, especially with our guys going straight up and them jumping into our guys. The number of fouls called ended up about the same after their late in game intentional fouls , but that does not hold up when they were the ones forcing the action to close ground for 75% of the game.

I am thankful for one thing. There was evidently a memo sent out to all crews to read the rule book closely on the block charge calls after our AU game and the LSU Arky game. At least those calls were within reason for a change.

You saw it better than I did so I’ll trust your judgment. The sheer number of calls was ridiculous. We had 52% more fouls called in our game than what was called in the Bama-LSU game and you know that was a physical game. The refs constantly stopped the flow of the game due to whistles every few seconds. We’re good enough to overcome those things 90% of the time though. We didn’t play all that well against Auburn and we were horrible the second half against Arkansas and we won both games. I’m very curious to see how we do in Tampa on a neutral floor. I think if we go down in game 1 (we won’t) then we won’t make the second weekend of the NCAA. If we go down in the semis I think we will make the Sweet 16. Go to the SEC Final and we will be Elite 8. Win the whole thing and I’m calling it now that we will be in the Final 4. I believed in this team before I ever saw the pieces play together because I really liked the pieces and I trust Barnes. I know he has had postseason troubles but this team is as balanced as any he’s ever had and probably about as talented as any, certainly close anyway. The only thing that gives me pause is our youth at PG. They’re practically sophomores now though so they need to play like it and take care of the ball. I do believe we will be Sweet 16. I lean towards Elite 8 but I want to see Tampa first before making that call.

Are they really that good? They simply got to play their toughest games at home. They only had to play Auburn and UK once each in Fayetville. They got to play us in Fayettville. Yet, the lost the Florida, Vandy, and Miss St. I think they are vastly overrated and will get exposed in a neutral environment.
Well, you may be right, but they nearly took the W from the Vols in TBA so they can't be that over-rated.
