The Official #11 Vandy @ #15 Tennessee Series Thread (Fri. 5/9 5:30PM EDT SEC Network) (Sat. 5/10 5PM EDT ESPN2) (Sun. 5/11 3PM EDT ESPN2)

And get what? They were a hit away from tying the game in the 9th. They were a few feet away from a walk off. If the goal is to be a better team come post season, then you look to see if they made improvements from last week. They did. In almost every measurable aspect of the game. The SEC has produced the last 5 National Champions in baseball. 15 of the 16 teams in the league have at least 9 sec losses. You’re not going to convince any logical baseball fan that this is some horrible team. You’re not. This crap is why I took a hiatus from the forum. I can’t deal with this nonsense.
No one is saying they’re horrible. Strawman much?

Clearly there’s a lot of frustration and losing the way they did to you know who at home is tough to take right now. The errors, the LOBs, the 2 strike home runs, the avalanche of SBs allowed. Plenty to still work on.

It is disappointing to lose another series but we are just a little snake bit right now. We have hit several balls on the screws the last two weekends that are right at someone. Hopefully some of those start finding the gaps and we get on a hot streak.

I think Phillips has to start coming out of the pen and Russell become the Saturday started.

Saw more fire from the team in key moments this series, but just couldn’t put it all together. That gives me some degree of encouragement.

That being said, lots of issues between the lines. We’ve got to get it figured out or it will be a quick end of the season.

Young team or not, the expectations have risen and that’s a good thing. But I’ll be danged if these losses don’t hurt.
100%. Just couldn’t get over that proverbial hump this game. And that would be the lead. Had a lot of fight. Let’s just hope it shows in the next few games and through the postseason

Worst fan base in College Sports. Best this University has been in all Sports in years and coming off a National Championship year and can't do nothing but bitch and gripe about everything.
Yep I'm just a horrible fan. Hell I hate the Vols. You've clearly never met me, or been to any of my tailgates.

LSU didn't host and got knocked out in the supers the year after they won't it.

It happens this team is talented but young.
LSU actually got knocked out in Regionals last year. Took it to a final game against North Carolina, but lost. People always talk about how hard it is to repeat as NCs. That’s true. But hell, it’s extremely hard just to get to Omaha, much less win there.

I know this isn’t the season y'all wanted, but it’s not over yet. And what’s y’all’s record? 39-13? Something like that? And playing in the SEC at that. Think of how many fans of teams that would love to be in that position. So I get the frustrations. I have them as well. But sometimes you need to step back and take in a different perspective, and it’s not nearly as bad as some of y'all think. Just an opinion is all.

💯!!! This team is inches away from being great. Will the breaks start going their way the next few weeks I don’t know but I am going to enjoy watching them and cheering them on either way.

Phillips is great unti he gets baserunners. You couldn't use him as a replacement reliever with runners on. Maybe why Tony was so stern about him not pitching until he cleaned that up.

Inches add up so do errors. And that's why it's got people frustrated. Not that they're bad fans or bad people.

I knew UNC beat them, but I was thinking that was in the supers.

Yeah the whole mouthing and jawing after another series loss. Where the heck is that spirit - that fight during the series?
You want them to lay down and cry like all you so called fans and cry . There giving there all this is an incredible hard game. If you succeed 35 % of the time you're a super star. GBO 💥

It was fine.
Help me out with that please sir. What do you think was the reason? As stated earlier. 1st and 3rd. 1 out. And a .394 hitter. If a bunt, at least why not a squeeze? A bunt for what other reason then just give up an out? As someone said earlier to prevent the double play. Then just sit there and take pitches and hope for a passed ball or walk.

Wrong, one of the best fan bases in the country.
One of the worst fan bases in online forums and social media. The point was best decade of Tennessee sports in the last half century and all you see is people complaining. I think that was a fair assessment. From Rick Barnes can’t make it to a final 4, to baseball sucks, to football. There’s plenty of recent fanbase meltdowns to give credence to the argument.

A very kind LSU fan told me in Baton Rouge a few weeks ago - “you’d like to win these games, yes, but none of this, or Hoover matters… and the sooner your fans figure that out, the better you will be.” It was followed by a long rant on how one of your prior coaches never won in Hoover but won in Omaha, and another won in Hoover but never in Omaha.

You don't just take pitches because you need to put the ball in play and make the defense make the play, this is college ball the pitcher is just as likely to throw it into the outfield as he is to make the play.

On top of that the situation in the game, at that point it was a lower scoring game where runs looked to be at a premium, at that point you're thinking 1 run wins the game.

My only critique this season...

Just 4 batters with 150 ABs on the year (before tonight). I get we're young and he wants to mix it up and see what players got but it's also difficult for guys to work through slumps and be ready in big moments.

Last year 7 guys had over 200 ABs

Also I get Chapman is in a hitting slump, but he's our best outfielder too.
Do you honestly think Chapman is a better outfielder than Ensley?
