Don’t forget it’s Mothers Day....and this forecast has not changed through today. Scattered thunderstorms (50%) around 5pm and 6pm.
View attachment 741212I'd hate to see an early start further diminish the crowd, but hopefully we have more Pentecostals than Presbyterians among the season ticket demographic.
"Warm 'em up, Preacher!"
I'm impressed he walked away on his own because Cheng's head looked like it hit him just below eye level. However I didn't see a red mark on his face so maybe the announcers will get an update. That looks bad…ump down, Chang SS is up…probably concussion for blue.
What pinch hits? We never used a pinch hitter or is he saying we should have used pinch hitters? I am old and confused.Radio interview with Tony:
We could have made a difference on defense and kept it much closer.
We didn't pinch hit as well as we needed to.
Ensley plays the game the right way, and younger players need to take note of that.
We had two spots in the lineup that we didn't get anything out of.
McElvain looked like a major leaguer out there tonight.
AJ threw the ball as well as he has since coming back.
Probably start Teagan tomorrow.
AJ's work allowed us to have a few fresher arms for tomorrow.
In order for us to make money on baseball we'd have to find room for about 2,000 more seats in our stadium after the current renovation is done (once it's done capacity is going to be around 7,500-8,000). And in order to do that, we're going to have to continue building sustained success both in the regular and the postseason for probably another 8-10 years (and by success I mean multiple trips to Omaha and probably another 1-2 Natties). Tony's done some amazing work basically building this program back from the dead, but if we want to be in the same conversation as you guys and the other blue bloods then it's gonna take more time.LSU has been profitable in baseball off an on for awhile. It’s been up and down since the 2020 covid year though. In 2023, reports are conflicting. Some saying they were close to breaking even, and others saying they were in the black by a little over 1M. They went about 2M in the red last year though. Rising expenses and the overall changing landscape of college sports is making it difficult for the few universities that do profit from baseball to continue to do so. It’ll be interesting to see how this plays out over the next 5 years. However, LSU is still one of the few universities that will currently have a chance to make a profit each year. Tennessee could get there as well, but they’d have to spend a lot of money before they can make a little.
LSU, Miss State and Ole Miss are profitabl
You just need money to build, a coach to lead (both of which you have), and a fanbase that cares enough to support them even when they’re not winning. I think you’re well on your way, and this board (outside of the negavols) is a great example! But yes, you are correct that it will take a little time. I have a ton respect for CTV and what’s he’s doing with the Vol baseball program. Keep the passion, and good things will continue to happen! In order for us to make money on baseball we'd have to find room for about 2,000 more seats in our stadium after the current renovation is done (once it's done capacity is going to be around 7,500-8,000). State losing 2.3 million with a 15k seater stadium has to play a big part in why they canned Lemonis this year. They absolutely pissed away the momentum from their National titleSo, for FY23:
LSU lost nearly 2.3M, Ole Miss made $166k and Miss St lost $2.3M, as well. 1/3 ain’t bad

Mississippi State athletics 2023 fiscal year: Bulldogs' deficit exceeds $5 million
Despite a record revenue of more than $115 million, Mississippi State athletics reported a deficit exceeding $5 million in the 2023 fiscal year.www.clarionledger.com
Honestly, a big part of their revenue comes from media. That’s why Miss St is hemorrhaging money as an athletic department overallState losing 2.3 million with a 15k seater stadium has to play a big part in why they canned Lemonis this year.
