Ok maybe I should specify, I didnt mean that we should start running a different offense starting Saturday in Lexington. Or even that its the kind of thing you can do in one offseason. Just that we should look at a different philosophical approach that can be integrated over the course of a couple of seasonsYou can definitely make adjustments but there’s no way you can just completely scrap your whole system midseason and expect it to go well.
I don't even think the whole system needs to change, but you gotta throw in some new wrinkles. I would like to see more P&R game with Keon/Jaden rolling off of Fulky. ISO one side of the floor for one of the young guys every once in a while.Ok maybe I should specify, I didnt mean that we should start running a different offense starting Saturday in Lexington. Not sure what you mean here Josh ?? Barnes has been to a final 4 , only one but still has and Pearl also has a FFA. Not as our coach obviously but still has one . What do you mean by formal coach? Not being a contrarian , honestly confused by this post . I’m sure you’re not but you aren’t inferring that Barnes & Pearl were not “formal” coaches are you ?Well considering the history of our basketball program, I say Barnes is doing a pretty damn good job considering he’s never been to the Final Four just like the rest of our formal coaches.

I disagree, actually. The effort was there, players were missing shots. We were doing what we wanted offensively - attacking the rim and getting looks inside. Springer/ Johnson / Fulkerson all missed easier shots inside that would have easily sealed the game for us. We also were missing FTs. The effort isn’t the issue, to be honest.Refs didn’t cause us to go 1 for 13 in that bad stretch in the second half when we blew an 11 point lead. That was just a pitiful effort by the entire team and there’s nothing else to say.
Haha I almost said something along these lines. I know he shouldn't have been a #1 option on a major team but dude was pretty cold that year
Missed the first free throw of a 1 and 1 three times that is a potential six points and certainly was one big reason we did not win the game.
Your right one was a two shot foul and we missed the first one. Springer was the guy that missed the front end of two one and one and James missed the first. of two. The fact we had them in foul trouble about five minutes into the second half and did not capitalize in any way was a big reason for the loss.I remember 2. When was the third? We didn’t get to the bonus in the first half iirc and I thought that the 9th foul was in the act of shooting. Springer did it twice. Who did it the 3rd time?

That would be a huge change from the past norms as CRB has won more than his share with lesser talent than the cats.Get ready to be disappointed because Calipari will use the underdog card and out coach Barnes Saturday night. I guess you don’t donate any money or purchase any tickets to UT athletics
PSA - Vescovi is not a world beater at point guard. He is not super quick. However he is solid and fundamentally sound. You don't need Chris Paul or Kyrie Irving at PG if you are solid in other areas. You just need the PG to do his part.
When you have below average post play and this is not just the PG setting guys up on offense - it's zero bangers other than a guy too small, its below average rebounders underneath and an undersized 4 and 5 position most of the time.
It's average FT shooting in key moments.
It's holistic turnovers by the entire team.
It's inconsistent shooting from the guards. Even when others are driving they are not converting at a high %.
It's not just not having a lightning quick PG that can break down a defense that's the problem. It's that no one is elevating their game on a consistent basis. Even Bailey's shooting and ball handling has tanked.
