The Official #10 Auburn @ #12 Tennessee Series Thread (Sat. May 3 11AM EDT) (Sun. May 4 1PM EDT) (Sun. May 4 45 mins after) (All games SECNET+)

This team lacks the right stuff for being champs. It's not that they aren't good, but they aren't good enough to make it very far postseason. There are too many weaknesses in fielding, hitting and even pitching this season. The fundamentals of sound defense are missing as evidenced in the numerous errors, stolen bases yielded, et al throughout the year. We'll still pull for them, but I don't see this year's team making it to Omaha. In key games against the best teams in the country, costly errors can turn a game around quick.

They’re better than the last few seasons after a national title for Miss St, Ole Miss, and LSU.

But I do think it’s time for the podcasters like Heflin, McKee and Rucker to stop talking as if it’s just an “off weekend,” every week. 5 off weekends in a row is just who you are.
Truth

Nothing going the way we want VN, but maybe we bounce back later and get our mojo back to where it needs to be. Team is in one of those prolonged cold snaps.

Good take. We have lots to improve on for sure

We’re not winning many games with our offense scoring 1 run , the top of the lineup is hitless so far today

As far as the defense, it all started when Kilen went down. Tony has been shuffling the infield so much, but he’s playing the hand he was dealt. We literally took a huge nosedive after the Kilen injury.

Wish I knew the solution for getting the mojo back, but I don't. I'm sure bringing in some straight up DUDES via the transfer portal will help, but it's also got to come from our recruits. The swagger of the 2024 team was rooted in the 2022 team's cockiness, and the 2022 team got it's cockiness and bravado from the 2021 team. 2025 is really the first year where nobody from the 2021-2024 seasons are around, so it's really like a new group.

Ensley was on the 21 team.
