Alot of people didn't know he was even on a 40 pitch count or even a pitch counter at all. I didn't know, I never heard anyone say beforehand so did hardly anyone else. So how were they supposed to know? And all we're hearing on radio is how he's ready to go and healthy so how would they know

It has been stated multiple times here,multiple times by commentators when he pitched midweeks, and CTV. Besides It's kind of common sense bringing someone back from TJS.

Yep. A whole thread about AJ and the road back re: workload, etc.:

Does anyone know if his pitch count will get any higher than two innings this season? Would love to see him at 5 innings sometime soon and maybe 7 during the playoffs.

Like I said, some didn't know. Some only come for game threads. We knew about mid weeks. We also know he had 37 pitches and could've thrown a couple more. He was in somewhat of a groove.

In that situation you don't. He had 37 pitches with a new batter coming up. Puts him and his relief both in a bad spot.
