The Official #1 Tennessee vs #19 Auburn Weekend Series Thread (Friday 7PM EST SEC NETWORK) (Saturday 7PM EST SEC NETWORK) (Sunday 1PM EST SEC NET+)

TV is making baseball fun again. These kids are probably used to playing for or seeing old stuffy dudes who do everything the “right” way and then they see a team who hits dingers and wears a pink hat and fur coat and think “I want to be a part of that.”

LNS is unfortunately the giant elephant in the room, it’s a little league stadium compared to places like Mississippi State
LNS is little but mighty. It’s a hornets nest with the fans right on top of the action and they are passionate.

It’s a weird supporting a team that’s superstition proof.

nothing I wear or don’t wear on game days
Nothing I eat or don’t eat
Where I sit
Who I watch or don’t watch the game with
What I get at the concession stand to eat
How I wear my hat
Whether I pet more dog during the fifth inning

I’m beginning to think this team doesn’t need me

Let's play 'What If'. What if we lose no more than one or two games from here to the final series against MSU. We would not only hsve the SEC regular season championship in hand, we'd also then be in line to either break or tie the full SEC season record, set by Vandy at 27-3. If so, should we A) go for the record (or the tie) by trying to win as much as we can at MSU, or 2) rest our starters (especially our pitching starters) and care less about the outcome of those games and the record?

If we build a new stadium rather than refurbish LNS, it might be a good idea to build the stands with the same relationship to the field as LNS has. Those stands are close to home plate, high, and steeply inclined, creating a feeling of being right on top of the action. Tony has said many times he likes that.

‘What If’ it’s February 18, opening day and it’s all been a dream?
This season has felt like a dream, hasn’t it

Agreed. I would keep foul territory to a minimum and maintain the “hornets nest“ environment by ensuring fans stay on top of the action. It’s a huge home field advantage and CTV says team feeds off the electricity at LNS.

Lack of foul territory really helps the hitters. Combine that with the relatively short dimensions and the wind blowing out to left field most games and It's amazing to me how the pitching staff has such a low ERA in that little bandbox. I'm astounded that CTV can attract that kind of pitching talent given the harm that little stadium could do to their numbers.

You play to win. 1-0.
