Can anyone recall CRB pumping up a freshman or any orther class to this degree and the player ending up disappointing? I can’t.
I looked back for quotes about guys like Springer, Keon, KC, BHH, and Julian Phillips who were also highly ranked coming in and I couldn't find anything...

On Lanier last year... When CRB talks a player up we listen...

“We have five, six different shooting drills that we do often with our players,” Tennessee coach Rick Barnes said Thursday.
There’s a lot of guys that play this game that think they’re better shooters than they are,” Barnes during the radio appearance.
“And the numbers don’t lie. You put them up there every day and when they’re competing, they can see them.

Chaz Lanier arrived at Tennessee a little over a month ago and is already setting a new standard in one big-name drill.
“Chaz,” Barnes said, “he’s a shot-maker. He really can (shoot it).”
Barnes went on to explain what he calls the Kevin Durant drill. It requires making nine of 10 shots from seven different spots on the floor.
“KD is the only guy that (did it),” Barnes said, “that’s what he did, (made) nine out of 10 from seven consecutive spots.

Definitely doing nothing to temper expectations that’s for sure, my biggest thing is that Barnes clearly loves the kid and trusts him and has no issues coaching him hard, rare things for a freshman. This tells me he’s likely to get that linger leash than many first year Tennessee guys or freshman under Barnes, and obviously there’s a massive need for him. He very well may end up being a 32+mpg guy here which if that’s the case I’m setting that PPG number at 17.5 at least.

Barnes has shown time and time again in his career, that he will make his offense heliocentric around one player if he thinks that’s what is best for the team.

From all the way back to Durant. To Kevin Punter, Grant Williams, Dalton Knecht and Chaz Lanier.

Basically on all those teams above, the entire offense was predicated on trying to get those guys the ball in a decent spot.

If Barnes decides Ament is like one of the guys above, the number of points he scores will only be limited by his own talents and abilities.

I’ll be curious to see how much 2 man games Ament/Kobi play, because the staff is also in love with Kobi just as much and feel like he’s an absolute bucket at the PG spot that they’ve never really had here.

Ament and Kobi could be the best offensive duo we've seen in Barnes era. Excited to see them together.

BTO - Do you not think Chandler was considered an absolute bucket at PG? I seem to recall many a game that he wasn't gonna be stopped.

No, he had some great games sure, but overall averaged less than 14ppg, shot sub 35% from 3, sub 60% FT and was around 53%efg. When I say absolute bucket I’m talking in the realm of Walter Clayton which Chandler was not.
