Agree. I get the perspective of back to back elite 8s . . . Knocking on the door . . . But who expects us to ge to this opportunity again anytime soon? I don’t.We aren't. I'm accepting that. It's not going to happen in my lifetime.
Lady Vols do have a higher standard but CKC got the most out of the team she had to put together due to CKH poor recruiting.Look I like Caldwell but she went just .500 in SEC play this year, which is only the 3rd time in school history that the LVs failed to have a winning record in the conference. She may be a good coach but the jury is still very much out on whether or not she is “Tennessee good” which is a very different standard in Pat’s program.
There is pretty much zero chance the next coach does anything here that Barnes didn’t. Doesn’t mean we’re going to have Wade Houston 2.0 or anything, but there really isn’t anywhere for this program to go but down from where Barnes has it now.
I agree. If they’d come out and laid down in the 2H, I’d have a sour taste. They fought their assess off, just couldn’t overcome a horrible shooting start. I love these guys more than any team before them, just hate it so much for them how it ended.1 bad half of basketball doesn’t change the way I feel about anything.
This was a fun season. One of the all-time great TN seasons.
I love TN basketball. Go Vols!
It’s portal season now. Let’s go!
Well said. Changes nothing about the way I feel about the season either. Really enjoyed watching them this year.1 bad half of basketball doesn’t change the way I feel about anything.

this was not the best shot we've ever had at a FF. this roster overachieved. last year we had a better shot, just ran into the Purdue buzzsaw. the Grant/Admiral team that lost to Purdue in the sweet 16 was the best roster Barnes has had. the team that lost to Loyola on the miracle shot was better than this one. the Pearl team that went 31-5 and got waxed by Louisville in the Sweet 16 was a better team, overall, than this one. and the best roster we've ever had, top to bottom, was in 2000 under Jerry Green when we choked away that Sweet 16 game to North Carolina after having them on the ropes late. and that's before we even get to the Ernie and Bernie years, which are before my time.
That FAU team may have been our best chance with a healthy ZZ.I agree with a smidge of pedantic difference.
This team performed well together. The sum of the parts was greater than the individual pieces in a way that’s only rivaled by our team a couple years ago IMO (the team that lost to FAU. That was also a huge overachiever)
I’d argue that this roster isn’t even definitively better than Cuonzo’s final team. I’m inclined to say it isn’t. (Again, the roster talent. Not necessary how the team played )
Yeah, I don’t agree with every word of this, but generally I do. I think people view it as the last shot bc they think Rick is almost done, and they wanted to get it with Z and Jahmai. I certainly wanted to get a F4 with those guys too. But they’re still a part of the most successful four year stretch of Tennessee basketball ever, so they’ve got no reason to hang their head. It’s an emotional day for lots of people but it’s fine, in this era a great team can be constructed quickly, and whenever Barnes will retire we have a great infrastructure set up to succeed after him. It’s obviously disappointing and obv I wish it’d have been closer, but every time our season ends there doesn’t need to be declarations that our school is cosmically cursed. This roster really shouldn’t have sniffed a final four, but a great coach and a great culture got them close, and for that I’m gratefulthis was not the best shot we've ever had at a FF. this roster overachieved. last year we had a better shot, just ran into the Purdue buzzsaw. the Grant/Admiral team that lost to Purdue in the sweet 16 was the best roster Barnes has had. the team that lost to Loyola on the miracle shot was better than this one. the Pearl team that went 31-5 and got waxed by Louisville in the Sweet 16 was a better team, overall, than this one. and the best roster we've ever had, top to bottom, was in 2000 under Jerry Green when we choked away that Sweet 16 game to North Carolina after having them on the ropes late. and that's before we even get to the Ernie and Bernie years, which are before my time.
Count me in too. Special players and a great year. Just ended a little early. Many thanks to the players and coaches for entertaining us all for the last six months. I will miss Z and Shack for sure. Both kids have grown up in front of us the last few years.Well said. Changes nothing about the way I feel about the season either. Really enjoyed watching them this year.
I’m 28 and it hurts my heart every time we lose one of these guys man. That’s 4 years of our lives we’re never getting backYes. People drag Bob Kesling, but listening to him and Bert sign off was hard too. Something about getting older, and seeing eras and people you’ve seen and heard for decades go away, is hard.
