I guess he just wants the opportunity to reset his clock since he is about to lose his entire team. I know the SEC is getting tougher every year, but it’s not like the Big 10 is an easy conference. It was arguably the 2nd best conference this year. I suppose if he goes to Maryland he’ll get some time to build his team, but still, a bit of an odd decision.

It’s interesting because he’s a Texas guy and seemed like he was always going to get back there and stay.

Think it just comes down to the fact that he’s losing most of his team and must not feel like he can sustain or improve upon the last few seasons. This is probably as high as his stock will be at A&M. If he wants out, now’s his best chance to land at another high profile program.

I think we have 10 guys on scholarship currently. I wonder, with the 15 scholarship limit next season possible, do we take the roster to 10/11 and wait to see if the NCAA grants the expected 5th year this summer? That would leave room to bring back Gainey, Chaz, Meshack, ZZ and Igor or some combination of them.
