The Official “Regular Posters of the Basketball Forum” Thread

Which is somewhat ironic given that he was also stirring the pot over Tennessee allegedly not being prepared when NIL was signed into law. Now that we have our act together, he's complaining that we are using it to our advantage.

I watched his video and didn’t think that he was all that skinny. He reminds me of Tony Robinson except a bit more of a pocket passer.

I haven’t kept up with it. I guess I’ll peruse the FF.

Not sure what to think about this Nico thing
I’m with you. If indeed the $8mil is correct then how much $ is needed to sign a 25 man class? How do the folks handing out the cash know who and how much to offer without the coaching staff’s direction? Are there enough boosters willing to pony up these $millions to fund their team? It’s definitely a bold new world in college athletics.

How much will need to be raised to fund a basketball team?

Basilio is a firebrand who likes to complain and yell in order to get listens. He takes both sides of an argument, and hopes you're not paying close enough attention to realize it.

This is the state of college athletics now. Complaining that Tennessee is now spending TOO much money on an elite recruit makes little sense to me. Either you pay, or you get left behind. It's that simple. Personally, I'm glad Tennessee is playing the game. I'm tired of losing. If TAMU is going to spend $30 million on a recruiting class, and Alabama and Georgia are going to continue to be Alabama and Georgia, then we've got to do our part.

Nico is going to be a stud, and he's going to bring a LOT of offensive talent with him. This is a great thing for Tennessee Football.

It's not the university's money, so I don't see the downside to it.

Vescovi would be National player of the year if he would be less passive with the ball when he drives. He kicks out to the 3 point line 90% of the time. If he could drive to score, shoot a floater or midrange, or pass to bigs more often he’d have his jersey in the rafters. No cap.

Next years development?

I keep swapping to a different game with questionable reffing. This Arkansas game has refs only calling fouls on Arkansas

Honestly less than I thought it would be

It's about what I expected. Michigan has some talent. I think this will be a very close game the entire 40 minutes, although I hope I'm wrong. Their size concerns me a bit.

I also think the 5.5 line is because Vegas wants to entice people to lay some money on Tennessee. Feels like a bit of a trap.

He used to drive it in and try to score when he was a freshman and sophomore. He routinely got it stuffed down his throat by SEC bigs. He stopped doing that this year.

KenPom has it at about 7 in Vols favor, usually those lines are closer…would seem to suggest Vegas anticipates it being close and didn’t want to set it too high in Vols favor and majority of money coming on Michigan to cover.

Wild stat for ya guys…

First 17 games Tennessee was 150/462 from 3 for 32.4%, which would rank 235th nationally.

Last 17 games Tennessee is 153/368 from 3 for 41.5%, which would rank 2nd nationally.

Maybe Barnes knew what he was talking about when he said this team could shoot and that he sees it everyday in practice. Here’s to hoping we don’t catch a cold one for about 5 more games, cause honestly if we hit 38%+ from 3, I don’t really see us losing. GBO!
