What I’ve gathered he’s shot very well, especially catch and shoot, plays good defense…not a great ball handler, or “scorer” as in going and getting his, doesn’t drive much unless wide open. All of that is exactly what my hope and expectation was for him, so I’ve been happy with what I’ve heard, if folks were expecting Knecht or Lanier that was never going to happen. I’ve said it before, my hope for Abram is be our best on ball defender, and shoot 8 threes a game hitting 37%+. That likely makes him around a 10ppg scorer and given what I expect from others I think that would be more than adequate and space the floor.
I really like the first bit, agree that that was my expectation. Really happy to hear he has shot as well as anticipated. Again, if we bring in another player I'd like it to be a "get his" 2, but am also happy with things as they stand and think we have enough.

Draymond Green is the only 4 year college player I can even think of in the last 10 years that made an All-NBA team. And I’m talking 1st, 2nd or 3rd team.

There might be 1 more i’m just forgetting.

So the data isn’t necessarily on your side with that argument.
All NBA isn’t the same as valuable role player though. There’s been tons of late first/second/undrafted guys that became valuable players on championship teams even if not the stars on those teams.

I think the argument is that GMs spend too many resources chasing low probability lottery tickets in the late first instead of banking some low-ceiling/high-floor players that you know you’re going to need on the floor.

The landscape of college basketball is different now with NIL. My arguments is moreso that NBA GMs haven't adjusted. Guys like Dalton Knecht and Chaz are really 1 and done at the D1 level.

With NIL, talent is able to be uncovered at all levels and players can work their way into an opportunity to play against top D1 competition. Once given an opportunity, some of these guys rise above the rest. These guys may or may not pan out, but they should be given a priority over some of these other no name guys who were mediocre against D1 competition.

I’d be pretty shocked to see Abram taking 8 3s a game. Chaz took 8 as our primary scorer. Dalton took 6. Looked back at some of our main scorers over the past 25 years and the only one besides Chaz I saw was Lofton. Not Admiral, Mcray, Bowden, JaJuan, Bone. I’m sure I didn’t think of plenty of guys, but 8 is a ton of 3s for a guy who’s probably our 3rd option at best. If anyone is taking 8, I’d think it would be Ament. Imagine Abrams is more like 5.

Vescovi was 7.5/ game a couple years ago, and 7.2/game the year before that, both years he was 3rd or 4th offensive option, that’s kind of the role I envision for Abram.

Santi was the leading scorer in ‘22 and was only half a point less than Chandler in ‘21. I’d hardly call him a 3rd or 4th option then. He was also a secondary ball handler on those teams and could score in a variety of ways. Abram would really have to show some development to match what Santi gave us those two years.

The 2023 season his FGA/40 was less than JJJ, Nkahmoua, Zeigler and almost identical to Key…he was the beneficiary of playing a lot more minutes than those guys, but most anyone that watched that team knows he wasn’t option 1 or really even option 2 typically. My main point though was that Vescovi was essentially a 75% FGA from 3 guy, and shot a high volume number of them, that’s what I think Abram’s role will be. We can split hairs between 8 or 7 a game, or 6.5 a game or whatever, my overall point though remains the same.

I also think it should be mentioned each year Barnes teams have taken more and more 3’s pretty much as he continues to adapt to modern offenses, so comparing this team to say a team 5 years ago isn’t apples to apples. You look around CBB and role players around the country are taking 6+ threes a game pretty commonly.

Not sure your point? Many scoffed at the idea of him ever getting drafted, this alone makes them wrong of regardless of what happens next.
He's on one, tonight. Memphis just wants to make Vols fans happy, for some unGodly reason, in Yanks mind. Cade Cunningham sucks, I think he insinuated also, tonight

Yes to the first bit. Last pick of the draft, WGAF. Why not

Never said he sucks. He's just not a "superstar"
