The Numbers Thread

How can they then count toward 2016 if they can play in 2015? That's where I'm confused with what others said about rolling BSs to 2016.

If a BS can be taken in the 2015 class as long as he is on scholarship by Aug 2015 then that makes sense. They would still count for 2015 then. I just don't see how they could count toward 2016.

Grayshirting isn't the only colorful trend in football recruiting - ESPN

Apparently, they would play in 2015 and then be announced on NSD 2016.

Cool, huh?

Thanks for that. Makes a little more sense now. In reality, a BS could hang a kid out to dry just like a GS could.

If a BS is the offer and I have other quality options, IMO kid would be wise to walk. No guarantee and paying your own way? No thanks.

Obviously Oliver had/has other good options. Bruce may have committed too early. Local guy gets his "dream" offer other schools probably said why bother. His list may have looked better had he not thought he had a scholarship and committed.

WR Williams

Hubbs just said if we lose Bussey and don't get Richmond we won't be adding anyone else, we just wouldn't have to BS/GS two of our current commits who are on that plan if we miss on them.

So the class is set and we are just hoping to close on everyone that we have committed and add Richmond.

If I was everyone here I would set my expectaions accordingly and not get caught up in some "Crazy" finish.

Best case scenario - Add Richmond keep all commits.
Next best scenario - Add Richmond lose Bussey
Solid Scenario - Don't get Richmod keep Bussey
Bad scenario - Don't get Richmond lose Bussey
Nightmare scenario - add losing a Boulware or Williams to not getting Richmond and Bussey (basically no chance but has to be mentioned)

So those are your scenario's so be super pumped if we get that top option!

LS Lovingood

Removed Oliver & Bruce. Any others asked to BS or GS, I'd remove them. Jmo

Whats the latest on justin Martin?

We could also add Shutack as a PWO. It's between us and Rutgers, and he visited last w/e with no offer, so that remains a possibility.

Curious to see which ones if any of the rumored GS/BS guys roll the dice on a "later" scholarship.

Adding Richmond will be great.

If we lose Bruce, Stewart, Perry, Oliver, and Lovingood, not so much.

I've only read that two of these are bs/gs candidates. Am I missing something?

D1 said Stewart, Perry, Bruce, and Oliver. I included Lovingood as the majority seems to think a scholarship to a LS is nuts(not me).

If they have to pay their own way to be a Vol, IMO that could obviously change some things.

This tracks with Hubbs saying we had worked out 5-6 GS/BS arrangements with current commits. If we can sign 23, this takes care of all 28 plus Richmond and Shutack (PWO).

I'm curious if it actually plays out. Paying your own way when you had options to go to school for free, we'll see. Horkey was all Vol till OU came in late with a scholarship. All these guys could have offers come in last minute, especially as schools realize what UT is trying to do.

I can't stand Vandy, but if I'm Mason with that slug of a class he has, I'd be very interested in these walk ons for UT that would easily be worth a scholarship.

These recruits want to play for UT and are willing to be creative in securing that opportunity. IMO, the only one that you mentioned that could decide to go elsewhere is Oliver. I think Butch has been upfront about the situation, and they are onboard with the plan.

I'm glad we're keeping them, and I think they'll stick it out. I like this class. A lot.

If they choose to roll the dice and hope that scholarship comes before they are processed I will cheer even harder for them.

Looking for a scholarship now IMO would be the safe play.

No room for Ford at DE. Bussey told no room. No room for Allen, 5-6 guys being told they need to take a GS or BS in order to he a Vol.

Will be interesting if they find room for Tega.

Interesting class proportions by state. About an equal number from TN and GA... and UT only took 4 of Rivals' top 10 for TN. The rest are pretty spread out with no more than a couple from each state. The only other top 10 guy they seemed to make a strong run at was Amadi.

ALSO... if someone had told us a couple of years ago or especially going back into the Dooley, Kiffin, and late Fulmer years that UT could land a top 5 class full of quality players WITHOUT a player from Florida... we probably would have laughed at them.

I've been ridiculed for years for saying we should ignore florida.Va, TN, NC, and GA are were we should concentrate.

So we only have 2 blue shirts and 29 in the class counting those two.

How the hell did Butch pull it off with what appears as 27 initial counters?

I am confused.
