With top tier recruits Richardson/Clear/Wright/Moore/Dawson/Maggitt/Moore/Johnson/Mackey/Jerrnigan left on UT's board and only 4 spots remianing ( one back count ), it seems as though UT may have to cut from the bottom.

Some believe that this won't happen, not sure why.

Now to assume we can get them all is absurd. Moore/Wright in particular.

UT does however have a legit shot at 80% of that list and should do whatever is possible to make that happen.

Not sure about who can be signed and placed/greyshirts but there is another option which is giving an upper-classmen ( one who doesn't contribute ) a medical hardship, which doesn't count against the 85 scholarship rule mandated by the NCAA.

UT will make room for the better prospect and in the end we will sign any of the remaining names on our board that want to come.

UT will not ask anyone to look around, however, there will be some sign and places I am sure. Look for us to wind up with no more than 28 signees. So, we will finish with Moore, Tiny, Clear, Dawson (or Wright). There even maybe one who switches on NSD, but the coaching staff WILL NOT ask anyone to look around. That is not Dooley's MO.

A medical hardship for Pope possibly? Also, how does that affect how many we can sign in this class? That just lowers the total number of scholarships right?

It doesn't. There is only one number Tennessee is concerned about, 26. That is how many we can enroll, with one backcount to last year, by August.

If we have to turn away any of the guys still on our board, then the coaching staff took too many lesser talented players early on. All the guys we have left on our board are studs with better talent than quite a few of our commits.

Dooley will make it work!

1. B Moore takes Tino Thomas spot
2. Tiny takes spot
3. Clear takes Spot
4. Dawson/Maggit takes spot
5. Jernigan takes spot

Wright to Auburn
Mackey will not qualify
Fuse is sign and place
Johnson sign and place

Would have no impact on our incoming class.

The new SEC rule is that you can only sign 28 prospects a year. The NCAA rule is that each years class no matter your total scholarships numbers is 25 new enrollees per calender year.

On the flip side, if you can get a kid to enroll early. He can then count back to the previous year if you didn't have the full 25 make it in that year and if it will allow you to stay under the NCAA rule of 85 on scholarship.

We have 5 spots remaining.

His name is Cody Pope. But, as stated earlier in the thread, this wouldn't affect the numbers for this class.

I wish we could get rid of Pope, Carson Anderson, K Revis, Gooch to open up 4 spots but I know it doesn't work that way

Thinking we'll get them all might be absurd. Singling out any as a far reach, I think is equally absurd. For Moore and Wright, who you mentioned, we have a very decent chance of pulling them away from Miami and AU, respectively.

Pick your poison. What's gonna give?: Moore loves Tennessee, father not happy about it. Wright loves Auburn, Mother and Girlfriend not happy about it.

If we take 5 more with 23 already committed then that will be 28. We can enroll 26 and will need to either S&P, Greyshirt, or turn away 2.

There is another thread that has a completely different explanation on how many we can sign.. Wish u would go there and explain ur point of view because I am really confused by the 2 explanations... :hi:

26 enrolled plus anywhere from 2-8 extra S+P possibilities depending on if the EE's count against the 28 rule.

26 is the maximum number for enrolling though.
