Anybody hear about this? Vince Faison will be suiting up for the Vols next year as a 26 year old freshman most likely at safety. He was one of the top rated defensive backs coming out of high school in 1999 and was verbally committed to Georgia. However he was chosen as the 20th overall pick in the baseball draft and signed a contract for 1.4 mil. Anyway he gave up baseball and we're giving him a chance to play. 6'2 205. Eric Berry was 11 years old when Faison was drafted...

Wow I hope this really works out for this ki...man.

I certainly hope he can have an impact. What a boost to the secondary that would be. We need it!

If morley doesn't get back in, which I don't think he will unfortunately, I can see him taking a safety spot..

Even if Morley does, and this guy still has the skill he had coming out of high school, matured with age..that is probably only good. :)

He played IF, OF, and pitched. Hell of an athlete. It worked with Washington and also with Quan Cosby at Texas. He's only a walk-on, so what does it hurt?

I dont think it could hurt to much now HV. We need some help back there. Atleast give it a shot.

I read this story a few weeks ago. I don't think he has a bad attitude. He was a really high recruit many years ago coming out of highschool. You are right though, mid to late 20's is his prime. Hopefully he will make a great impact for us next season.

Kelly Washington would have made a huge difference against Cal and Florida, like his attitude or not the boy had skillz.

T.O. has mad skillz, too. He single handedly destroyed the Eagles. Ocho Cinco is starting to do the same for the Bengles right now.

Guys like this are a terrible distraction and very detrimental to their football team. No one is bigger than their team, not even Tom Brady or Peyton Manning.

IMO CPF is to blame for most of his attitude, he needed a long heart to heart talk in the coach's office about the team concept , no doubt.

From the article, I don't get the sense he is a "me" guy.

His father just passed, and one reason he is going back is becuase his dad loved football, and was always on his case about getting an education.

He also has a two-year old son, and wants to spend more time with him in Knoxville.

He will enroll in spring.

Also, Greg Adkins (who originally recruited him while at UGA) is why he is headed to Knoxville.

I don't want to turn this into a KW debate, but I disagree with that comparison strongly.

I would rather have Austin Rogers than the cancer formerly known as The Future, K-Dub.

other then age, why the comparison to Kelly Washington? is he that good?

Trying to find out more info, but he stole 37 bases in 55 games in 1999.

Out of High School he was in The Telegraph’s Sweet 16 and was a USA Today honorable mention All-American for Toombs County, GA.

You can cure a lot of cases of cancer. There's not much you can do about limited ability.
