And in Battlefield 1, our community has grown to 21 million unique players experiencing an extensive live service, with monthly updates, in-game events and missions, and the largest expansion packs in franchise history.

At Gamescom, we will debut a new way to play Battlefield 1 built for competition, and designed with direct input from our Battlefield community

Starting in Q2: And Battlefield 1 will continue to evolve as a content-rich live service, with monthly game updates, and our next expansion pack, “In The Name of the Tsar,” launching in full in September. In addition, at Gamescom we will detail our plans for a new offering that will bring the richest Battlefield 1 experience yet – including the all-out warfare, epic multiplayer battles and War Stories campaign that have defined the game, plus new maps, deeper progression and additional fan-favorite game modes, all in a single package.

As we continue to pioneer for our players, our portfolio will expand in FY19 and beyond. ... We will continue delivering for our Battlefield fans, including the next great game in the franchise.

What do you think it'll be and what do you want?

WW2 seems like the logical choice. The current Frostbite engine and maps like Iwo Jima, Guadalcanal, and Wake Island? Yes, please!

Please be civil or revolutionary war. No one has even attempted one that I can think of.

Revolutionary would be hard to make outside of a turn based game so I'll settle with civil war era.

They had to dig deep to find weapons to make even World War I combat viable for a modern audience. No way they would be able to do it with a Civil War game.

That and it doesn't appeal to an international audience. World war 2 will almost certainly be the focus.

I think WWII seems logical but they did do Hardline and WW1 which are both pretty different so something else wouldn't surprise me. If they do WWII I'd love to see the Pacific (including New Guinea) and Burma/India campaigns. They haven't really been covered other than WaW.

WWII makes the most sense. They could do the SP war stories format like BF1 in Europe, Russia, Africa, Pacific. Plenty of content for air and armor choices. Behemoths wouldn't really be feasible other than a cruiser or something for water maps.

If it is set in WW2, some other type of games modes that be done could be a air superiority type maps like Battle of Britain, walker assault type mode where you escort bombers over Germany, Battle of midway using a BF2142 Titan mode type of gameplay. And a Naval superiority mode like Bismark vs Hood and Battle of Leyte Gulf.

I could see a ww2 based BF next year. The market hasn't been saturated with WW2 games like it was in the early-mid 2000s. And gamers have probably gotten over the ww2 fatigue of games. There was a time when people began to ridicule a game simply because they heard it was ww2 based.

Battlefield 1942 was the first Battlefield game, and I'd like to see a return.

Probably the War of Jenkins Ear or Queen Anne's War. The 17th century needs a good blunderbuss shooter.
