UF isn't as young - has more talent than we have on defense - and lost a close game on the road against the only top 10 team that they have played.

UF is pretty young. Witha first year coach. And yeah on defense in the secondary . thats it though. We have more talent everywhere else imo. But hey we are the best 3-4 team in the country haha

Why "silly"? You've started 3 threads since the end of the game that all say the same thing. And every one of them are sillier than anything I've ever posted.

2 threads. And they're very different. High levels of discriminant validity, IMO.

UF is as young and less talented and had beaten a top 10 team.

UF is not as young and is not less talented. Muschamp mismanaged that team but the school recruits itself. They dropped off in 15 I'm guessing because the w/l record and muschamp being fired, but they have Juniors and Seniors that were highly rated compared to our FR & SO that are highly rated. But please, don't let the facts derail your argument.

(Ranking per rivals)
FLORIDA / TENNESSEE
2012 class - 3 / 17
2013 class - 4 / 21
2014 class - 8 / 5
2015 class - 23 / 5

...when Butch gets us to 9-3 in 5 years. I better see some people around here eating crow at that point! And we'll know who you are too. Butch is taking your names down and putting them in his back pocket!

Just curious... How many injuries do we have at key positions? Our QB and leader of our defense is out, our senior lineman is out, our O-Line is made up of a third string center and two true freshman. Dobbs has not had a full season of a starting QB, We are starting true freshman and true Sophs all over the field. If you cant see improvement and potential under CBJ I don't know what to say. Mistakes have been made this season with the players and the coaches but that is exactly what is expected from a young team and new coaching staff. That year three crap is just that.... CRAP. We were depleted into non-existence before Jones. We are now ONE defensive stop away from being 6-1 and ranked in the top 5 in the country. I'll take watching the VOLS be competitive with a chance to win every game over the BS I have witnessed over the last 8 years. Give the man a chance!!!

If you're going to compare position groups and simply state which is more talented without laying out the roster and their respective star rating, you are simply stating your opinion.

Yep... and because I watch the games and not just the win/loss column I see improvement. If we finish anything less than 8-4 then it's time for the pitchforks to come out and I will be leading the way but right now, I'm encouraged by the play of most of our young players that we expected big things from.

You can call it 'moral victory' if you want but I see a difference between losing 59-14 and 45-10 vs losing 4 games by 7 points or less.

Bingo!!!! We have a winner. Good post my friend! :hi:

Recruiting rankings don't always mean something. There's more 3 stars in the NFL than 4 and 5 combined. I'm stating what most people would imo. Its hard to argue we don't have the better players at this positions. Buy whatever. They were predicted to go 5-7 of 6-6. Regardless they shouldn't be nowhere near 6-1. And we shouldn't be 3-4. Coaching is huge.

Many reasons to be upset about the outcome of today's game. Despite Bama being heavily favored it turned out to be a game that could have easily been won. Some want to say "Well, nobody predicted us to be even in this game. I'm proud that we hung in there with the 8th ranked team". You could say that, or could say this would have been a great game for CBJ to get back and make up for the earlier games we lost that we shouldn't have. Florida, Oklahoma, Arkansas and now Alabama...all games we had a late 4th quarter lead in and blew it. That just sucks anyway you spin it and therein lies alot of the frustration. ALL THOSE GAMES were right there....and kills the most when you just pizz it away.

It almost hurts more when you know you SHOULD win all these games rather than getting blown out. Nothing worse than missed opportunities. You get the feeling with Butch no matter how many good/great players he gets he's always gonna find a way to lose.

The biggest Butch problem, imo, was demonstrated in the final drive of the first half. Just under two minutes, ball in our hands, Bama gets the ball first in the second half, two minute drill, right? Nope. Let's run out the clock. If Hurd hadn't broken a big run, we wouldn't have even made a FG attempt. Butch was content to let the clock run out. Conservatism killed us in previous games, and apparently Butch hasn't learned his lesson. Bad coaching, imo.

Butch has been a great recruiter, and yes, we're seeing improvement, but you're not always going to be the most talented team on the field. When that happens, coaching is key. Good coaching can counter the opposing team's talent advantage. Butch hasn't shown he can do that yet. It's concerning.

Taking into account all of the injuries this year and his track record before coming to Knoxville, why do you feel he's going to lose it? If Cam Sutton made a play on defense we win, if Medley hits two out of 4 FG's we win, If we stop FL on 4th and 16 we win. If we stop OK on 4th and 6th in OT we win. CBJ and his recruiting has put us in these positions to win these games but players have got to make plays. The coaches and players have put us in position to win every game this year! Sometimes kickers hit FG's that win the game, sometimes receivers don't fumble on the 15 yard line vs OK, a lot of times the defense steps up and don't give up a 4th and 6, a 4th and 8 a 4th and 16. Every circumstance that I have mentioned was NOT a coaching issue but a player making a play issue. I'm NOT dogging out the players but to think that a coach is at fault is funny. Phil Jackson did not make Jordan great, Jordan made Jordan great. Pat Riley did not make Magic magic, Magic made Magic magic (sorry I couldn't resist). The point IS...... Players have GOT to make plays! and I think they will! When the team is healthy and the depth is in place THE VOLS will be fine under CBJ.

So those bad coaches on the other sideline are why we stood toe to toe with what some say is the best team in the country? We had 5 scoring chances to their 4. Our kicker sucks and theirs doesn't on the day and they win. I truly feel like we outplayed them but Medley has regressed instead of progressed.

GO VOLS!!!!

7-0 talent 3-4 team. It sucks

It does suck and you have a lot of stats. Can you post the injury list? Can you list how many true freshman and Sophs that we are starting ? Can you list a single team that has beat us with a younger line up (red shirt freshman and true freshman are not the same by a mile)? Can you list a team that has beat us that is playing less juniors and seniors than us? Give us ONE team that is starting more under classman and has less upper classman starting than us. Just curious.... throw us some stats not opinions.

I would say that we are about equal and Jones deserves some heat for letting Oklahoma and Florida get away. We should be 5-2 right now and I'm not excusing that. I'm just saying that I do see a greatly improved team since 2013.

Agree we should have won those games and they are on Butch. I also think he has learned from it and isn't making the same mistakes.
