The "Nega-Vol" Narrative After we Beat 'Bama

As a so called negavol, aka realist that calls out the truth whatever it may be, here is what I will say.

Win: Butch got the most out of the team.
Lose without a ton of turnovers/penalties: better team won.
Lose by self destructing: Butch still hadn't created an environment of self discipline and accountability.

But why are fans of Tennessee trash talking one another regardless of what our views are? Shouldn't we just trash talk the opposing team?

Because there are folks on here that refuse to believe there is even the slightest possibility that everything is not exactly what it should be and will not fathom that the coaches could possibly ever be wrong on any level.

i'll say this, last year, with the losses to FL and OU, i put that pretty much on CBJ and co.

but even with that, the 3 previous years, the teams themselves typically didn't self destruct. they were very disciplined. we won turnover battles, one of the lowest penalized teams, and the off the field issues, while well documented, he did "handle" them relatively quickly with suspensions and/or dismissals.

this year, has been the anomaly when it comes to the on field miscues. i don't think anyone expected to see the drastic turnaround in regards to penalties and turnovers. Jeckyll/hyde when compared to the 1st 3 CBJ teams.

I don't see bammer making it to Atlanta. It will probably be auburn coming out of the West.

mmm. i guess there's a scenario for that, but they need some help.... certainly possible....there are some good games still out there...LSU/Bama, LSU/aTm, Aub/Bama, aTm/Bama, Ole Miss/LSU, aTm/Ole Miss, Aub/Ole Miss....so yeah, there's a lot of football left.

I think the winner of A&M/Bama reps the West. Aggies may have a shot coming off a bye.

Ole Miss, Auburn and LSU can definitely have a say in this. i think Bama has the best shot of going thru w/1 loss.

i don't think any of those three above will win the West, but they can sure screw up someone else's shot at it.

You guys spend more time worrying about us "Negas" than thinking about your favorite football team.

Get over your self righteous opinions.

Nobody wants Tennessee to lose to Alabama. That's stupid for you to even say.

Nega Vols want Tennessee to win. We want people to actually have expectations, instead of celebrating losses. Questioning the coaches is allowed. Ripping the coaches is allowed. The coaches make millions and should be expected to produce on the field. I assure you they don't care what fans say.

While we are celebrating a win against Alabama, you guys will be rushing on here to start threads about us.

I'll smoke a cigar with any amount of crow. I won't think anything about what you guys are saying.

We have gotten worse every year under Butch in penalties and turnovers: TeamRankings.com: Sports Predictions, Rankings & Stats

If you look at fumbles alone (not lost just fumbles):
'13: 39th worst
'14: 58th worst
'15: 94th worst
'16: 128th

The only thing that has changes this year is that we are not recovering as many fumbles.

Putting differences aside, congratulations on on your new daughter. That's what it's really all about. :hi:

I won't care one iota what people on Volnation are saying after the game. Hence posting before because I'm dying with anticipation. Many of you are still overestimating how much this is a concern to me. I regret using the term "Nega-Vol" in the thread title, as I think it has become a polemical term (to be fair, I did put quotations around it, as in "the so-called 'nega-Vols'"). My bad. But don't start guilting me over questioning your fanhood or whatever. I don't know any of you personally, so don't take my post personally. It has simply been apparent to me this season that some folks have made a pre-judgment on Jones and refuse to be impressed by anything this team does. You yourselves acknowledge this sort of pre-judgment when you talk about people who "see the coach as sacrosanct" or refuse to question anything. That pre-judgment can be positive or negative. Both are foolish.

I'm still tired of some of y'all saying that we're gonna get trashed. We've allowed the last 10 years to change our identity as a fanbase. We're like a dog whose been whipped one too many times. This ain't your you-from-five-years-ago's UT football team. To be realistic implies not being a pollyanna, but it also implies not being overly cynical.

Alllll of that being said. It's less than 24 hours 'til the young men in orange take the field against our greatest rival. Best wishes to all of you on game day, whether you're a "nega" "sunshine pumper" or anything in between, so long as you're a Vol. I apologize for any offense my OP caused; none was meant. Go Big Orange. Beat 'Bama.

Thanks Behr! I appreciate it. She and mom are happy and healthy.

Frats Wylo!

So CSB...

So we are in Indy trying to eat at the Capital Grill during the last quarter of the GA game. Running in and out of the bar like morons, high fiving the patrons and generally getting everyone to pull for UT. The emotional rollercoaster was wild. We settle down and eat dinner and then order dessert. The waiter comes in and sets this in front of us....5/20/2017!!!!!
