The Nail In Butch’s Coffin

Welcome Chip Kelly.....................

Chip Kelly ain't coming here. He doesn't like boosters nor recruiting, that is why he got a show cause because he hired a recruiting firm

Not even close to true. Almost every school hired these services at the time. The guy who got Oregon in trouble was working for Tennessee at the time too.

"Nonsense. Look guys, UT should be able to finish out the season and get to a bowl game. UT won't/can't fire a coach who gets his team to bowl games. Butch will end the season on a high note."

The ONLY high note he is gonna hit is on his trumpet....

I just dont think we see much move until the end of the season. I think his days are numbered, but that number is a lot higher than 1 or 2. I hope its less than 300.

I said in a thread I started back in the day when I could that if Tennessee doesn't win 2/3 UGA SC VANDY he would be gone.

Meanwhile, GT hasn't allowed a team to score more than 17 since our game and currently leading #11 Miami 14-3.

Bumped for revelance.

He deserves to stand on the side line against bama and take his beatin before they can him. They should fire him directly after the game and speak of this is not the standard at tn and we will find someone that upholds the standard

He is absolutely correct. Butch should have been fired after GA, but the limp **** AD and Admin couldn't work up the courage to do the right thing. If they don't do it now, look for a beat down by Bama and then close game much like todays for the rest of the year. If by some miracle he wins out, then he's 8-4 and the talking points will be how he deserves another year, how the team pulled together for him and played outstanding ball. We'll be stuck with him another year.

Guess we get to see if Currie has big bull balls or itty bitty gerbil nuts.

I feel the same, but I also don't know if I can stomach another week of him.

Three suggestions.

1) Don't listen to his PC's.

2) Alcohol

3) Alcohol

I feel next week could be a historically bad loss in a career of historically bad losses under Jones and no one else deserves it except him.

The Scott promotion was the nail in the coffin.....he's worse than horrible

That, promoting an unproven OL coach in Wells, hiring the QB coach from UNT, plus AF's DB coach. People were excited about the Hoke hire, but the truth is it seemed like a money grab more than anything - Butch helped his buddy get paid. Hoke was available and went to the highest bidder, which was us. So Butch did a fantastic job of draining our budget while driving our program even further into the ground by making us front his buyouts and his assistants buyouts. Not to mention the claim that he would assemble "the best staff in America" only to bring his old staff from Cincy, plus Thig/Coach G.

Can't see how anyone could be happy with his performance at UT beyond the obvious things like APR improving and fewer penalties (zzzzz). Havent seen a coach do so little with so much talent since Al Golden.

Bringing in Rock was Butch's best move - but again, was it worth the steep price if he doesn't even stay a full year? He's one of the highest paid S&C coaches in the NCAA, higher than Bama's S&C. Again makes you wonder where Butch's loyalties lie. With his peers or with the university that employs him? I'd argue it's the former and he's looking out for his own skin more than well-being of the program - hence the buddy-buddy hires of DeBored & Hoke.

Butch's best assistants have been guys that have no relation to him. Namely Thig & Gillespie. That should tell you all you need to know about his ability to fairly judge his assistants abilities. He didn't part ways with his old staff until the fans started calling for a change. The man always seems to have his head in the ground and that's his biggest problem.

Good riddance...

I am pretty sure I have watched or listened to every game against Bama for over 40 years, sadly that may end next Saturday.

Though I will probably put myself through the punishment.

We will be lucky to be bowl eligible. Really lucky. Normally I would agree but there is absolutely no confidence in butchie actually coaching up this team.
