The ONLY way I see these two being acquitted is if they witnessed him commit a crime then the citizens arrest would be valid and what happened after that was a tragedy (still should/would face punishment), but if they didn’t witness a crime then it’s just cold blooded murder and they should rot in prison IMO.

No, this would have gotten traction in the media if the races were reversed or if the players were all the same race. It's news when two armed idiots defy police orders, pursue a man and wind up killing him.

It was also news that one of the suspects had enough juice at the DA's office to prevent them from filing charges for two months.

Probably true but the spin would have been totally different and not as much prolonged attention.

If anyone is interested in checking out a case where an attempted "citizen's arrest" turned into charges of aggravated kidnapping and assault, check out State v Michael Wayne Parsons. It's from Tipton County, near Memphis. It's a really interesting case, because the defendant liked to make audio recordings of his entire life. So he captured the audio of the assault he committed, his attempts to cover up his actions, and his entire trial. All of this is on Youtube. If you have a lot of time to kill, here's Part 1.
