The most underwhelming hire of 2017

I see other schools getting proven winner with national championship winning coach, Dan Mullen, undefeated UCF coach, etc. And we're getting another Saban's puppet? Anybody can look good under Saban's supervision and stacked 5* two deep. FML, RIP Tennessee football 1891-2017

Dan Mullen, what a loser....
Pruitt is the real deal.
He’s gonna prove you wrong.

Go Vols

Are you really as dumb as your post or are just trying to rile the masses.
Pruitt is one of the top D minds in the US> His D has finished 1st, 1st, 8th, 16th and 1st nationally.
As for CoOrdinators who have done "fairly" wll....Swinney, Stoops, Mullen, Franklin, Frost, Gundy, Muschamp...all got power 5 jobs WITHOUT Previous Head Coach experience.

Why must you and others of your ilk continue to show how little you know about football. :hi:

See my previous post (above)
...unless you meant those facts were getting in the way of your story.

If that is the case....you were right to errantly refute his facts. Nice job.

Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
The fact was that he has been a part of 4 championship teams, refuting the "fact" that no team he was a part of won a champipndhip.

You must be one of the Gruden delugionals- for one Mullen was Floridas 3rd choice, was a whopping 69/46- and his team just lost to cross-state Mississippi in the EGG bowl.- hardly a slam dunk winner. Almost all of the coaches out there were marginal win/loss programs, yet were elevated to icon status by forums and blogs like this one.Pruitt would be a decent even good coach as any we could hope to sign.

It’s late so I’ll try to break these down quick for you.

Kelly: wanted to be on the west coast and in the PAC 12. Took less $ at UCLA than UF was offering NOT ABOUT THE MONEY.

Gundy: played QB at OK St and that is his dream job. He interviewed with us to leverage his AD to pay for facility improvements and a raise. He took 2 million a year less than we were reported to be offering NOT ABOUT THE MONEY

Petersen: has always been a west coast guy and made no indication he wanted the UT job. He turned down Southern Cal before taking the Washington job even tho it paid more NOT ABOUT THE MONEY

Frost: won a national championship as QB at Nebraska, it’s his dream job, would be like if Peyton was a coach and Bama thought he would coach there b/c they will pay him more than UT NOT ABOUT THE MONEY

Mullen: was OC at UF under Meyer, always wanted to go back but didn’t get along with the AD, AD retired last year so his dream job came open NOT ABOUT THE MONEY

Leach: is friends with Currie, wanted to work with him no matter which big school he was at, had no desire to coach at UT unless Currie was his boss NOT ABOUT THE MONEY

Kiffin: piece of garbage that created the mess we’re in and has been leading the charge in humiliating us during this search, literally been fired from every job except UT, only reason people mention him is b/c they’re desperate and can’t believe that someone would leave this program, “please come back Lane, this place is really awesome and we don’t know why you left us, we’ll be better fans this time” you all sound like girls in an abusive relationship begging their abuser to give them another chance. Pathetic
Very well put,so awfully tired of the Gruden/Kiffin wackos.Kiffin kept trolling us and they loved him more-go figure. nothing like recruiting kids to a school you made fun of.

I thought Mississippi State had the most underwhelming hire.

I don't know much about him but he has a ton to play around with. Mississippi State I believe returns 9 starters on both sides of the ball. I could have easily seen them take the West next year if not for the coaching change.

Its going to be interesting to see what happens there and whether they finish at or near the top and Florida doesn't.

We are not those other schools anymore. We aren’t in the 90’s. As much as I’d like to have that “home run” hire, who are we going to get? We just had a historically terrible season... and have been mediocre for the past 10 years. What is your solution? Are you going to personaly go find us our homerun hire? You forget most of these coaches have history at their respective establishments. We deserve better, I agree. That doesn’t happen overnight. I wish it did. I also wish our administrators would quit being incompetent. It will take time, but we will be back eventually.

If you think that, then you don't know much about football OR you're letting your emotional attachment to another name cloud your judgment.

Pruitt is a fantastic hire. He's got the competitive fire and the proven track record of success we need on Rocky Top!

Clemson folks would have never hired Dabo if they had stayed with hiring 'big name' coach. The name never paid off....

1978-1989 Danny Ford (still a GOD among Clemson fans)
11 years, 76% winning record, 1 National Championship

1990-1993 Ken Hatfield 70% winning record
70% not good enough. Graduation rate up, Player GPA up.
Fans threatened to not show up at games (sound familiar?)

1993-1998 Tommy West Assistant Coach at Clemson 1982-1989
Walked and talked like Danny Ford (the second coming)
53% winning record (52% in-conference) worse than Hatfield

1999-2008 Tommy Bowden (Son of Legend) ACC coach of the year 1999 & 2003
Coached 6 games into 2008 and was fired. FCA coach of the year 2006
62% winning record

2008-present Dabo Swinney took over 2008 (7 games)
75% winning record
2009: 9-5
2010: 6-7 Lost Bowl game against S. Florida
2011: 10-4 Lost to W Virginia 70-33
2012: 11-2 Beat LSU 25-24

Time between Danny Ford and Clemson ‘winning’?

20 years!

Proven winner? Pruitt has 4 NC rings? 2 time finalist for top assistant in the nation. Top recruiter. He has had the number 1 defense in the nation twice for different schools.

Obviously a loser. This is a solid hire.

3 teams in the playoff have coordinators with no experience HCing. The one that doesn't is Alabama.Another has an Alabama DC as head coach.

You're misinformed. Stop trolling.
